It is well below ground but there is concern about seepage. Deep Water Horizon comes to mind.

The most galling thing to me about this whole messy business, aside from our nation's long history of fucking the First People, is that the Democrats, alleged champions of the poor and disenfranchised cower silently for fear of annoying their money sources.

Okay, I am wondering why you are "surprised ".
Newsflash, the current Democratic Party is no longer the party it used to be.
The current Democratic Party is heavily supported and "funded" by the super rich/the one percent/Wall Street/ major corporations and "the man".
Don't hold your breath waiting for the Democratic Party to go after themselves, lol.
Big oil companies ARE the current Democrats.
I'm trying to figure out why you are surprised, the answer is in your face.

servantforuse -> RE: The Sioux Battle Big Oil (11/26/2016 8:56:12 PM)

What difference does a little seepage matter. There are billions of gallons of oil in the ground just sitting there not in a pipeline. They have been seeping since the beginning of time.

The difference is that if it seeps from the ground, as it does all over, it's a pain. If you spill it from your pipeline it's a $25,000 a gallon fine from the EPA.

Perhaps you could show us your math on this pretty simple exercise in long division.
Where did you get the $25,000 per gallon figure?

The U.S. pipeline safety office has fined Exxon Mobil Corp $2.63 million for spilling crude oil in an Arkansas residential area in 2013, the regulator said on Thursday.

The Illinois-to-Texas, 20 inch (51 cm), Pegasus pipeline spilled about 3,190 barrels of oil in a neighborhood near the town of Mayflower.

When was the last time one of those seeped 150,000 gallons a day?

~FR~

Couple of points to be made here.

The protest encampment is on federal land. How is it that the county sheriff is attacking the First People? What is his authority?

The Feds have mandated the FP evacuate their camp by Dec 5th or they will be evicted for their own safety. They are offered a smaller "free speech" site south of the river. If the Feds want to protect the FP why do they not censure the violent actions of the sheriff? Very Orwellian, innit?

As I pointed out in another thread a protest may be effective if it is disruptive (peacefully) and provokes overreaction by Authority. This is a classic historical case, not that there is any guarantee of success, but it looks like Birmingham deja vu, hey?

I'm trying to figure out if your post is sarcasm, trolling or your typical unadulterated ignorance.
If it's the latter, why dontcha go to NAPA and buy a few quarts of Quaker state and mix em in with your next drink.
Better yet, let your kids drink it.
It seems to be what you are advocating.

Well college boi the statement from the "factless check" site says that they are an industrty group. Sorta like the fox reporting on how many chickens are not missing from the hen house. This is why we believe that your time at university was spent either in food service or house keeping.
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

You may need to get your carer to help you with these big words. I know they're difficult but gaining an understanding of them will be beneficial to your mental healing.
