nothing explains the odd hair, except narcissism

youre confusing vanity for narcissism. the former can be a part of the latter, though not necessarily, but they are not equivalent concepts.

I trust you will remember that the next time you, or any of your female friends use make-up, dye your hair, brush your hair, or wear clothing that has anything other than a utilitarian purpose to it.

http://www.businessinsider.com/hair-surgeon-explains-donald-trumps-hair-2015-12

Vanity is something most of us have, wether we admit it or not.
Narcissism is a much deeper issue. And applies to Trump in more ways than his hair.
so your "well meaning " claim is really not relevant

You're probably talking about billionaire Peter Thiel. I was referring to Salena Zito writing in "The Atlantic" on 9/23/2016, although she may not be a progressive as stated. If so, my apologies...it was The Atlantic.

"Get your facts straight sock boy." "That Dizzy Chick" was kind enough to refer to Thiel as well without resorting to name calling but not you. You're a real tough guy behind that keyboard, aren't you? I'd ask you if you want to meet up and talk it over face to face but we both know desktop warriors like you don't have any balls or money.

I have both sock boy. I calls em as I sees em.

As one progressive pundit put it, "Liberals took Trump literally but not seriously. Trump voters took Trump seriously but not literally".

This stuck with me originally, but now it's just confusing to me.

So basically, you think that Trump is full of shit and you don't believe a word he says... and yet you somehow know what he's going to do when he's elected president?

It seems like the fact that he's so full of shit and so into himself and such a meaningless spectacle has caused people to project their own hopes and dreams onto his political emptiness. You have tuned out the media and their endless cries of 'FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT ELECT THIS SOCIOPATH' and decided that your own intuition is a better gauge of things, even though you admit that he has said merely whatever gets the best reaction from the crowd at any given moment and for all you know he could be planning to declare martial law and force every 8/10 in America to sleep with him.

It's more than a little messed up.
What's more than a little messed up is the utter failure of the Left to realise their mistake.

You do not have a lock on the truth. You are not better people. Your inappropriate smugness has bitten you on the ass because your pantsuit lost the unloseable election.

The media abandoned their role. They enjoy protections under the Constitution precisely because their role is to inform. To present without bias. And they completely abandoned that role to become an agent of a political party. They preached self-righteously about how people should think, they told people who they are, they talked down to them.

And in return, the electorate told them to get fucked.

The failure here is on the part of the Left who has the arrogance, the utter audacity to think political dialogue involves preaching instead of discussing.

You don't get to shape society in the image you want. You don't get to prosecute people for pronouns. You don't get to advance the cause of women by legislatively stepping on men. You don't get to create imaginary monsters (rape culture, campus rape culture, gender pay gap) and then demand that people accommodate your lies.

The Left is failing across Europe, in America and in Oceania. The relentless focus on identity politics and contempt for their working class base has left them with the minority constituency they're so determined to pander to.

When did the Left forget that it was a party whose power derived from the proletariat?

That's why they keep hitching their wagon to Islam. It's the only major group who will tolerate them - and which is why they're so devoted to massive programs of Islamic immigration. It's only the possibility of Islamic immigration which gives them the prospect of electoral success without going back to their working class base which they now despise.

Outside of the socialist/communist totalitarian regimes... the Left's not in good shape.

As of this morning you are correct . . . but that will change with Trump's planned infrastructure expenditures and his crony capitalism bribes. FDR saved capitalism;Trump will batter it and create a working class backlash. Just my opinion.

Carry on

Who ya gonna blame?

Make it easy on yourself , and blame the Democrats and the Republicans.
They are intertwined more than most of us realize, and are both to blame.
The question is, which party is the MOST corrupt?

Trump is a salesman. He makes bold, loud but simple rhetoric. Many times he's wrong as hell but it gives the impression that his voters are looking for. It's good tactics for a salesman. Unfortunately his voters have been defrauded. But they won't find that out for quite a while.

Are you serious??

Trump won because he made himself irresistible to the media. If he had wanted them to treat him like just a serious politician, he wouldn't have acted like an incompetent fascist. He wouldn't have pretended that it would be so easy to change the world and might have actually tried to understand how reality works. Whether or not he's even capable of not acting like an incompetent fascist is besides the point... my point is that Trump isn't a victim here, he's an instigator.

If anything, the media respected people far too much... Trump didn't and that's why he won. He knew that certain people were stupid and frustrated enough to believe whatever he told them. The trick is to not openly call people idiots, only treat them like idiots.

It's like that scene in Idiocracy where Not Sure gives up trying to explain why plants need water and just tells them he can talk to plants and they told him that's what they need. People don't like to hear that the road ahead is as complex and boring as it should be... they want to hear that there's a good vs. evil struggle going on, they're the good guys being victimized by the bad guys, it's not their fault, and there's a way to fight back.

'You don't get to shape society in the image you want'? What does that even mean? So everyone supports Trump and Trump is a man of the people and all of the divisions and protests and anger and fear is just a product of the media?

It seems like every time you post, you're not even talking about the election or left vs. right or society so much as what you personally find annoying (you like pretending this election is about civil rights and feminism as opposed to the economy), and you follow it up by declaring victory as if all of these things are now going to go away and you'll never have to deal with them again.

Trump's victory has all but guaranteed that the people you find so annoying will be even angrier and more aggressive than ever. But seriously, who even fucking cares if they are? You don't seem me as the type to ever be happy anyways so your misery and isolation levels will remain unchanged regardless.

No, Europe is failing across Europe. I get that you're anxious to proclaim the death of left-wing ideas and declare permanent victory, but this is simply a pendulum shift brought about by a sense of unease about the future and the direction in which the world is headed. It can, should and will be reversed.

Brexit and Trump aren't about left vs. right, they're about the establishment versus the alternative. If you look at the periods of crisis during the early 20th century, far left ideas were just as likely to take hold as far right ones in troubled countries... which is also exactly what is happening in Europe right now. Hopefully democracy will be able to survive.

If anything, the problem in America at least is that the left has been moving too far to the right for too long and the result is they've pushed the real right so far to the right that they have gone insane.

quote:

When did the Left forget that it was a party whose power derived from the proletariat?

The Democrats weren't revolutionaries, they just supported the labor unions and civil rights. There are left wing parties in Europe that are more protectionist.

And there's a difference between fighting class oppression and catering to the whims of some blue collar over 40 factory workers who want to keep their mind-numbing 9-5 jobs at the expense of the economy as a whole.

The real underclass, ie: non-white non-college grads voted for Hillary, as well as people who make under $50,000/year.

'The only major group who will tolerate them' where the fuck are you getting this bullshit?? Minorities and young people are both 'major groups' and they both overwhelmingly voted for Hillary. Everyone below the age of 40 supported Hillary with a vengeance, which seems to me means the right is in more trouble than the left in the future.

Let's agree to disagree here.
I am only addressing 2 of your points here.

Most of the millennial's that I know and have read about, supported Bernie Sanders.
Once Bernie "lost" the nomination, some voted for Hilliary, but many did not bother to vote.
{Seeing how corrupt she is}

Hilliary did not get enough millennial votes, which is ONE of the reasons, that she lost.
Great article in today's Washington Post, that explains this.

Also, many of us that are over 40, are living a long time these days.
Politicians damn well continue to court those over 40, who tend to vote in greater numbers.
Do a fact check, EVERYONE under 40 did not support Hilliary Clinton, IF they had, she would have easily won.

Peace
