Yes, there was. There was a centrist consensus of sorts, once. Things chugged along, not very satisfactorily, but never so bad as to cause an outright explosion. There was a certain consensus that there was a political class that people assumed knew what it was doing. It's gone now. There's something similar going on this side of the pond, too - and, just as in the USA, it seems, nobody knows where the hell it's all going to end up. Decades of broken promises, on both sides of the left/right divide, have come to a head.

I sometimes wonder if, every now and then, a civil war just must happen. The institutions of democracy-in-practice have kept that at bay for quite a long time ... but maybe the ones we have are simply not up to the job any more. Too much unresolved bitterness has built up.

So basically, you try and make people believe that you're a "political scientist" but are absolutely clueless when a well-established pattern repeats itself.

Amazing.

Status: offline 		The thing that strikes me about the gibbering mouther's allergy to the media is that the Trumptooners were all pissing and bitching like incontinent schoolgirls when Clinton announced that she wasn't going to do any more press for her Presidential campaign back in June, but have no problem with the pube-haired circus peanut blowing out interviews now that he's President elect.
Can't be a double standard or hypocrisy if it's not a Democrat doing it or making excuses for it, though, evidently.

CHICAGO (AP) — Hundreds of people are showing support for the manager of a Chicago craft store who was loudly berated by a customer who claimed she was being discriminated against because she is white and voted for President-elect Donald Trump.
As of Tuesday morning, an online fundraiser for the Michaels employee brought in more than $18,000 from over 1,200 donors. It was launched by a woman who captured the Nov. 23 rant on video. The video shows the customer yelling and cursing at two black employees and other people for more than 10 minutes. The dispute was apparently sparked by a disagreement over the bags being used for her purchase.
Michaels says it doesn't tolerate discrimination or racism against customers or employees and is grateful to store management for resolving the situation.
