This is how bitter gourd looks like. And it's literally called "bitter", because it's horribly bitter. For me, I don't know how people could enjoy it. It's nasty stuffs. But it is a super food.

As far as tastes matching colours go, sweets ("candy" if you're an American) are obviously the baseline for this one. Think about it: almost all orange sweeties are orange flavoured, green sweeties are lime flavoured and yellow sweeties are lemon flavoured. There's more variation in red, white, purple and black sweets' flavouring, but they can be generalised.

Until you get the green ones that are "apple" flavored. Then it's sad times :(

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 5:33:13 AM)

To me (not liking grape juice), grape juice is usually greenish - not purple.
So I don't associate grape juice with the colour purple.
Blackcurrant, yes, that's purple.
Even darker to almost black would be blackberry (indigo?).

I think oranges taste orange.
Possibly mango too, but usually a much deeper orange.

As for yellow?
Well... a light yellow to me is grapefruit, slightly pinkish.
Medium/light yellow is lemon (sweet lemon, not the sour variety).
A strong medium yellow is banana.
Dark yellow means pineapple to me.

Green?
Loadsa stuff tastes green to me.
Broccoli, sprouts, green cabbage and lettuce.
Avocado is something I hate so light green to me is lime.
A very pale green could be apple or pear.

Red?
I love tomatoes. The OH can't stand them in any form.
Light red to me is raspberry (who the fuck decided to make fizzy drinks blue FFS??).
A good, rich, medium red is strawberry to me.
A much darker red is pomegranate.
Can't stand cranberry at all. Hate the damned things.

Blue, to me, could possibly be blueberry. Don't like those either.
But to have blue representing raspberry is crazy!!
Blue isn't a natural colour for most things so I don't associate blue with any flavour at all.

Lied to?? I don't think so.
You must have weird taste buds.

Or the banana flavoured yellow ones that should be white if they were proper sweets?
[:D]

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 7:15:02 AM)

What about those lovely foam bananas??
They wouldn't be the same if they were white!
Naah... banana is yellow, not white.

WhoreMods -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 10:21:19 AM)

The reason most other banana flavoured sweets are white is because the banana flavoured stuff inside a banana that you eat is white. Wine gums have it right. Those foam things, not so much.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 11:18:12 AM)

I've not come across anything banana flavoured that is white.
Not even wine gums, hard gums or any other sweets.
The white wine gums are supposed to grapefruit (altho some contend that it's grape), but not banana.
Vanilla or almond flavourings tend to be white, not banana ones.

Milkshake flavourings for banana is yellow.
Banana food flavouring is yellow.
Every banana sweet I've ever had is yellow, not white.

WhoreMods -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 11:30:43 AM)

So are all of the lemon ones.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 11:42:35 AM)

Maybe so.
But banana is also yellow.
The inside of a real banana fruit is a pale yellow.
Even my banana-flavoured e-cig liquid is yellow.

As I've not come across any, perhaps you could enlighten me as to which banana sweets are actually white??
Your quote for wine gums isn't correct as some brands have the white ones labelled "champagne" which would be grape I assume.

WhoreMods -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 12:09:57 PM)

I don't think that argument is sustainable: the black ones, which are clearly blackcurrant are stamped "port".

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: I think I may actually have figured out sumpin.... (11/30/2016 12:59:58 PM)

Actually, they aren't black - they are deep purple in colour.
Very close to the colour of port.
And to me, they don't taste of blackcurrant either.
To quote wombania.com: The black Wine Gum's flavour also seems to vary depending on the manufacturer. Many people would say the black Wine Gum has a licorice flavour (one person thinks it is "black licorice with a bit of grape in it"), but others would say it has a strong berry flavour, perhaps black currant or blackberry or even grape. Often the black Wine Gum is in fact more of a dark purple than black.

And incidentally, I've been checking on wine gums.
There aren't any brands that I can find that have banana flavoured wine gums.
So I have no idea where you conjured that from.

Could you answer the question?
Seeing as you claimed "The reason most other banana flavoured sweets are white is because..." and I've not come across any, can you tell me which banana sweets are actually white??
