FR~ I have nothing against it. If you are a law-abiding citizen and keep your nose clean, you have nothing to fear from it. I would also welcome Identity Cards for the same reason. It might actually flush out the fraudsters, con men, illegals and terrorists. And unlike those of Dizzy's persuasion, we don't like a government that has no power. Recent events in the US clearly show that power driven by the people is severely flawed and only a step away from anarchy. Your idea of 'checks and balances' is self-harming and destructive and nothing sensible gets done. We don't like that idea at all. That's why most of us let it pass without complaint - we happen to like it, it wasn't apathy on our part. It's better to have it out in the open, legal, and well-defined as to what they can and can't do than have it underground and in secret. Snowden proved it happens all over the place and that most don't know about it, including governments - it's super-secret. I'd much prefer to have it out in the open and exposed to scrutiny.
