He probably figures he won't need AirForce One much because he has Twitter to talk to the American people and being the President of the greatest nation on earth... everyone should/will come to him.

Lucylastic -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/7/2016 12:31:47 PM)

Im sure they will.

Edwird -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/7/2016 1:10:11 PM)

Yah, Trump and Trudeau and Peña Nieto can re-do the NAFTA thing on twitter.

Same with all the other stuff with Jinping and Abe and May and Merckel, etc.

Those people need to learn to take affairs of state seriously and get caught up on social media.

Edwird -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/7/2016 1:31:49 PM)

PS

Yes, that was a joke.

--FR--

A number of years ago one of the presidents actually took the time to stop for a short while in Idaho. (I think it was Bush Jr.) Anyway, one of the local TV stations was really full of itself and they broadcast everything they could find out about presidential stuff, a lot of which was nothing but trivia. One of the things I remember them talking about was that when the president travels there is not just one AF-1, but two, one of which is a decoy, complete with it's own military escort. I don't know if the second one is all decked out with all the high tech electronics and stuff. . . it may only be a shell that looks like the real deal. But what I'm wondering is if the high cost for replacing AF-1 is partly due to having to produce the decoy as well.

P.S. I'm just going by what the TV station reported. I have no real idea whether it is true or not. I don't normally watch that particular station due to their exaggeration and exploitation of a lot of what they broadcast. And no, oddly enough it isn't FOX, its the local NBC affiliate.

itsSIRtou -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/8/2016 10:03:24 AM)

LOL....
This is one of the few ways (t)rump is a typical repugincan....trying to make himself LOOK like he's saving the taxpayer's money...... until the first shoulder-fired missile just misses his or the current AF1...

THEN he'll listen to the generals he says he's so much smarter than about presidential safety....

THEN he'll order the new planes that by THAT time will cost MUCH more than the current new design because retrofitting the current planes with the new tech will not work.

he's just plain grandstanding.

Lucylastic -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/8/2016 10:09:56 AM)

He got into a pissy mood with the ceo of Boeing, got him back with the tweet, the same as the union boss of the carrier jobs(who dared to say Trump lied his ass off, he is playing games, thinking bullying them is his right...
Not to mention he is now using his ss detail as an amenity to staying at his hotel, where are all the cries of costs and the american tax payer, favouritism and crony capitalism
Oh thats right
(crickets)

Who is that a secret from? The American people who should know that kind of thing in deciding whether or not they want to vote for her? I thought it was more interesting that Hillary told the whole world that there was 4 minutes between when the POTUS gives an order for nuclear action to when it was carried out.

mnottertail -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/8/2016 10:29:09 AM)

Are you unable to read? He says he is twittering about secret tapes. You have no idea nor does anyone but select people the FBI and the State Department, whats on Hillary's phones and servers. I dont see why its interesting that there are 4 minutes from POTUS notification to Nuclear War, unless you haven't heard that before, but I wouldn't have any idea why you havent.

That is common and completely in the public domain and has been since the 70's when prior to that it was 12 minutes and if you watched the film and took part in the drills as a child as most of us did, you knew it was 12 at that time. Now the entire vignette takes 12.

See Eisenhower, Kennedy, Brzezinski, Joint Chiefs of Staff, et al.

just like I said...

Lucylastic -> RE: AIR FORCE ONE (12/8/2016 4:58:44 PM)

Karl Rove...."There is no contract for $4 billion, there’s a contract for $170 million," Karl Rove said. "What he did yesterday was he de-stabled the stock a major American company. That stock is held by millions of Americans."

GOP strategist Karl Rove is criticizing President-elect Donald Trump for his recent comments about Boeing's contract for a new Air Force One plane, saying they were inaccurate and hurt innocent stockholders.

“He said something that was not accurate that had a negative impact on that stock, namely that there was a $4 billion contract,” Rove told Fox News’s Bill Hemmer on “America’s Newsroom” Wednesday.

"There is no contract for $4 billion, there’s a contract for $170 million. There is no $4 billion contract," he continued. "The impulse — that we want to save the taxpayers money — that’s admirable. But this was fire, ready, aim in my opinion.”

Rove said Trump's actions also hurt Boeing stockholders.

“What he did yesterday was he de-stabled the stock of a major American company,” he said. "That stock is held by millions of Americans."

“Now, it’s not just a bunch of executives in Chicago or a bunch of management types sitting in Charlotte, N.C., or Seattle, Wash., where they have their management facilities,” Rove added of Boeing.

“[It’s held by] pension funds, by university endowments, by ordinary people who’ve invested in Boeing. There’s one elemental thing a president ought to keep in mind, which is the power of his words, and therefore, the accuracy of his words.”

Trump on Tuesday ripped Boeing over the cost of a new Air Force One plane, calling for the contract to be canceled.

“Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future president, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion,” he tweeted. "Cancel order!”

Boeing responded by insisting its contract is actually for $170 million, far less than Trump claimed.

“We are currently under contract for $170 million to help determine the capabilities of these complex military aircraft that serves the unique requirements of the president of the United States,” it said in a statement.

The Pentagon announced in January that Boeing had won a contract to replace the current Air Force One planes.

The initial contract was worth just $25.8 million, but the Air Force planned on spending as much as $1.65 billion on the project, according to Reuters
