While movies may have an impact on what we do, there is a limit to what people are going to take away from a movie and saying it is okay to do in the normal world. We are adults and know it is the movies. I cannot go rob a bank because the bank is ripping people off. I cannot go shoot someone just because they are evil, and I cannot go slap my girlfriend because James Bond did it in a movie.

True, but as I said, it is about "some" of the roots of current attitudes.

If we look at the most romantic movies over the past 50 years https://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/bestofrt/top_100_romance_movies/ Very few have the men slapping the women. So if you theory were to hold true, wouldn't men be more toward the gentler side of things? Not saying it should be just playing devils advocate.
