Heard on a Telly interview former CIA Director James Woolsley confirmed that America has been in a cyber war for at least the past five years. It is really naive for the Trump fans to claim the election attacks were not real or needed further proof. Attribution is the most difficult part of cyber war, but the CIA has identified Russia as culprit with a high confidence, which is as good as you are going to get.

Basically, cyber war occurs in two moods: spying and sabotage. From Forbes:

Cyber warfare is going to target any sensitive industry in your opponent's infrastructure. This means obvious stuff like the military and defense and weapons manufacturers. It also means stuff like civilian factories that make weapons, mines, and other resource manufacturers that help those factories operate, and the national power grid that gives all of the above its necessary electricity.

In its scariest incarnation, cyber warfare could target the most important strategic asset a country has: its population. In this way, you could launch terrorist attacks meant to destabilize or dishearten that population from fighting. This means doing scary things like hitting major financial sectors and causing economic damage to the country's economy (think about what things would be like if the NASDAQ unexpectedly shut down) and abruptly terminating public communication (think what would happen if the national cell networks all terminated and the internet went down).

Why does it threaten society?

I think cyber warfare is scary for two reasons:

Strategic cyber warfare does not distinguish between civilians and military: Just like nuclear weapons in the cold war, cyber weapons are just as likely to be targeting civilian resources as they are military ones. While a nuke is obviously way more damaging than a piece of malware is alone, a cyberattack can cause civilian casualties and deaths.

A great example of this is an attack on the national power grid. The national power grid is an obvious strategic resource for the US. If you took down the power grid through a cyber attack (something the US is rightfully concerned about), you would not just stop factories from building guns. You would also cause traffic accidents, interrupt surgeries, stop life-giving machines such as iron lungs, and basically just kill a whole mess of people across the country.

So, how safe is your money? How important are your internet and smart phone connections? Have any family on oxygen compressors? How dependent are you on the electric grid?

Trumpsters need to get their heads out of the sand hole of denial. This is serious shit. Obama has said he will strike back at Russia despite Trump's dismissal of the threat (my words) Do you think Obama is right to do so? Do you have any faith that the Trumper will continue cyber vigilance and retaliation?

Your thoughts . . .

Obama hacked into Angela Merkels private telephone business, Hillary and Obama helped kill at least one foreign leader. Obama interfered with the Israeli elections, stuck his nose into Brexit. On and on... Obama encouraged Mexican nationals to vote. This is just off of the top of my head.

NOW, the alt left is lecturing about how bad such interference is.

There is no proof that it was Russia. Zero. Assange has denied that it was the Russians. And what exactly was exposed? That the DEMOCRATS were trying to illegally manipulate American election results!

No one is denying that this is serious, but not everyone is buying your ridiculous alt left spin. What is so serious, is how the Democrats are determined to undermine the Democratic process by spreading conspiracy theories about the election results. AFTER telling us that Donald Trump had better accept the election results, for the sake of the country.

The might and power of the United States intelligence agencies......ALL of them, agree that Russia has hacked and influenced the election.

In no way was there an exposure of illegally manipulated election results by the Democrats.

Hillary and Obama helped kill at least one foreign leader.

Which foreign leader would that be? And how are you defining "helping" to kill somebody? Holding the killer's coat for them so that they don't get any blood on it?

(ETA)
Vincent, at least the orange shitweasel doesn't have to worry about having his own data hacked by the Russians as he has another of Putin's bitches in his cabinet ready to pass on any data he's been advised against sharing himself...

What is an alt left spin, anyway? I thought the alt left was the centrist wing of the alt right (ie: not very left at all).

Other than Trump's tweets, which Trump fans say the cyber attacks weren't real? We all, obviously, saw emails and heard Biden telling the news he was going to handle it.

You leave me confused by your reply, N.

Are you telling me you are satisfied with Trump fans blowing off the issue of our being already in cyber war, and do i hear you saying that all is well as long as Joe will handle it?

WTF does this have to do with the OP?

You wrote that "Obama has said he will strike back at Russia"

WTF? Regarding cyberwarfare, Obama has arguably done worse than his unproven allegations against Putin. Why does Obama pretend to be indignant, why the act. Obama needs to pull up his big boy pants and dry his pouty little crybaby eyes. Since Obama does those things to others he should act like a grown up when he gets it thrown back in his face. Now he is making threats, claims he is going to attack Russia.

Obama is playing a dangerous game, a childish game, blaming Russia for Hillary being the worst candidate ever. All this is, is a ploy to delegitimize Donald Trump as president elect. The recount didnt work, so they try this.

And you just fall right in line without questioning, without thinking. Do you really trust the CIA? The FBI? Or Obamas security team after their lie blaming Benghazi on a YouTube video? They jailed an innocent man for that lie. How can you trust anything coming out of this White House after that.

You people are fucking incredible.

Sure vince. So then you agree that the NSA should be shut down and snowden is a hero for exposing jtrig, prism, carnivore and many more?

Election Corruption Watch: White House Threatens War with Russia for Political Points

By L. Todd Wood - The Washington Times - Saturday, October 15, 2016

Okay, now it is getting personal. As my son, and many other like him, prepare to enter a service academy next year, the Obama administration threatens war with Russia in an overt political move to enable Hillary’s election and stop Trump. The ‘Russians are coming!’ narrative is getting dangerous, but they don’t care.

Young men and women will die in a war that Obama is stoking, but they don’t care. The Left only cares about power, screw the fly-over country folks who will fight such a war.

Vice President Biden openly threatened Russia with cyber warfare in an incredible display of selfish incompetence. The Russians probably are hacking our systems, the same as the NSA does to them.

If you want to force consequences, you do this privately, with plausible deniability. You don’t announce it to the world and give Vladimir Putin the exact excuse he wants to further flame domestic hatred of America and continue threatening actions globally.

The Democrats are frightened and shocked that their corruption is being put on display for the world to see. The American people are having their eyes opened to the filthy criminality of the Democratic Party and their corrupt media cheerleaders.

Incredibly, the answer to their lying being exposed is to threaten war with Russia, a nuclear power that could destroy America in thirty minutes. The Democrats do this at a time when our nuclear deterrent is aging and becoming obsolete. Nice move Hussein.

Thank you oh great gubmint and MSM for feeding us daily psychodrama puppy chow.

What works the best is another 911 that would redirect focus off of da gubmint corruption for a little while.

Might want to read Tom Clancy's Debt of Honor to see how a cyber war can start... just a few clicks of a keyboard could trigger an economic meltdown

If Obama said or did nothing in response to the apparent Russian cyber attacks he would be excoriated by the RW.

Secondly, the allegations of Russian meddling came long before November; now we have the FBI/CIA confirmation.

Your article is out of date, RO, but it does show that the Cyber alarm was raised before November.

Why is it that the anti-Obama crowd is willing to ignore a potential "existential" threat?

Who were you felchgobbling when he said he was going to release the contents of from Hillarys 'hacked' server? Who were you felchgobbling when he raped a girl in Sweden, and skulked into an embassy rather than face the reality of what he has done? Tell you what shitbreather, provide us citations of your felchgobbling as well as why you are incarcerated in a cretin academy.

Dont be such a submissive little felchgobbler, it is bad enough you are a fucking buffoon and an imbecile.

Here is some more, that proves you are also a submissive felchgobbler to not only Trump and Putin, but Assange. You submit to and felchgobble any propagandist and factless fuck.
