DO you believe in maternity/parental/leave or maternity benefits from your employer?

Actually, I was kind of thinking about this. I think that something like the tax code, as mentioned before, is clearly a different thing. But yeah - why do I feel that a maternity leave benefit is not insulting, versus compensation for being a parent?

I suppose it's because of the motive for them. Newborns need care, by both parents, if possible. Sometimes, mom and newborns need extensive physical care. And parental leave is for parents, not women. (I'd like to think.)

This, though...getting a $10,000 check each year because I'm a woman and my child is,..I don't know,... in middle school? Why, exactly? Why is that happening? Because aw, life is hard for women? What that tells me is that the higher-ups in that organization believe that men don't have the responsibility for family obligations that women do - and that that's okay. It also tells me that they think I can't handle my shit as well as a man can, and that I need to be rewarded when I do. Ick. Just ick.

It feels like an effort to shut women up. And I'm really surprised that women would go for that.

My husband got six weeks when my last one was born. I take parental leave seriously.
That was 25 years ago.
Childcare costs just as much for infants and juniors. IF you can find it.

Of course you and shit for brains stef still can't comprehend that the pay gap theory has been debunked over and over. The damn myth has more lives than a cat.

Quick example

Whiny babymen and their sycophants who stamp their feet and say "IT'S NOT TRUE", aren't debunking anything.

Your "example" is an opinion piece that brings forth no new information and instead quotes several verified sources that prove her opinion wrong.

Shit for brains indeed.
