I have to say: I have seen Mr. Suprun interviewed three times, now. I believe he believes that what he's doing is the right thing.

That's where it ends.

1) I know most of the left doesn't care, but the rule of law has to be maintained; no matter what the PPL masters would have the rank-and-file believe.
2) His announcement that he considers himself to be a "moral" elector infers that anyone else that doesn't follow his lead is less than moral. That's the exact fucking smugness that I hope the Dumbocratic party will run with for the next 20 years.

Michael

In Texas, elector's votes are not bound by law. They are free to vote for anyone. Mr. Suprun actually thought (privately) about writing in John Kacish before the election.

Two weeks ago he said that was what he was going to do and urged others to do the same.
Of course last week Kasich (I checked the spelling) stated he was having nothing to do with it.

I believe in every state where they are bound, the maximum fine for disobeying the proscription is $1000. And I have not found one case (anyone?) where an elector was fined for ignoring it.

How many times does the alt left have to be rejected before they understand?

You know what would be fun, how to get even more alt left heads to explode in this election cycle? Get Hillary electors to flip, and drive President Trumps' count to 500.

mnottertail -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/18/2016 5:54:28 AM)

LOL, You have a better chance of installing personal bathtubs in the Columbia River.

MrRodgers -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/18/2016 7:54:39 AM)

Interesting and not funny how for the electoral college decide who is elected president despite the popular vote on a national level is good, proper and valid but somehow for the electors themselves to enjoy the freedom to decide as Hamilton actually wrote (Fed. 68) and just who those electors vote for on the state level and in the final consummation of our 'democracy'...is corrupting the system and a violation.

Ridiculous. When the SCOTUS affirmed the states the power to decide all political commitments of their electors, then live with that too.

It's as if the winning side gets to pick and choose which parts of our system is legitimate and which aren't. If the electoral college was to throw this into the house of reps. then get the fuck over it...that's how that works too.

It would take 38 electors. Wishfully thinking, arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

I would agree if only because the house might pick Pence, milquetoast and just another rent-seeker.

Musicmystery -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/18/2016 11:59:15 AM)

But Pence would be bad, not insane.

So your riots failed, your death threats failed, your recount failed, blaming the Russians failed. When you fail to subvert the electoral vote tomorrow, what next?

Musicmystery -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/18/2016 1:34:06 PM)

Where did you see my hand in all that?

You really are bizarrely paranoid, as well as weirdly fascinated with me. I can't imagine why.

What I think is likely is that Trump will court conflict and controversy domestically and abroad until either he's forced to resign, or is impeached, or runs his full term but alienates the electorate against the GOP.

Unfortunately, Democrats don't seem much better at this, since they decided to play oligarchy against oligarchy, so what happens next is anyone's guess.

I'd frankly be stunned if the EC didn't elect him. They are partisan hacks, after all.

But if they aren't going to do anything, then it's time to eliminate them as proven useless and redundant.

Stomp your feet and scream some more, maybe it will go away? Because you will never get the states that it benefits to go along with cutting their own throats.

BoscoX -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/18/2016 2:03:38 PM)

And you aren't nearly as special as you think you are. I challenge all of you delicate little alt left snowflakes

The more nonsense you post, the more I call you on it. This isn't your safe space, turn off your computer and hide if think alternative viewpoints are going to make you melt.

But you dont challenge anyone, you are a joke.
Nothing more.

Except that the red state welfare crowd votes against their own interest all of the time. Unless of course they are farmers or fossil fuel investors...sucking on the govt.'s biggest tit. When there's that kind of govt. money (handout) involved, we know how the right votes.

47.9% voted for W to get a few bucks in tax cuts when [he] cuts for example, Romney's taxes by the 100's of 1000's if not more. I know, hey, it costs real money to teach a horse ballet.

The right has been mostly since Reagan (or Freidman's 1976 outlandishly immoral proclamation that says essentially, society exists at the behest of the corporation) plutocrats and will forever be. Another reason why the EC and gerrymandering...are so important.

Musicmystery -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/20/2016 6:36:02 AM)

Yeah, I'd really like to see the anti-Fed states just go it alone for a while.

Let them figure out where to get the funds.

heavyblinker -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/20/2016 6:37:47 AM)

And in the end, Hillary lost more electoral votes than Trump.
Wow.

Musicmystery -> RE: Texas Repub elector will not vote for Trump (12/20/2016 6:56:39 AM)

Well, she's no hero in this mess. The DNC earned their loss.

Sticking us with Trump.

There are 20 others who are considering it, according to a Harvard law professor.

But seriously... can you even imagine what would happen if the EC denied Trump the presidency?

Yeah, we probably at least missed a bunch of wacko militias raiding pizza shops in search of sex slaves.
