Russians Increasingly Skeptical of ‘False’ and ‘Biased’ News

https://themoscowtimes.com/news/russians-increasingly-sceptical-of-false-and-biased-news-56580

The number of Russians who think media reports are false or biased has doubled in the last 12 months, a report by Russian journalism charity Mediastandart has revealed.

The number of respondents who said they frequently found media reports to be false or partial skyrocketed from 24 percent in 2015 to 48 percent in 2016.

Half of all Muscovites and 47 percent of St. Petersburg said they believed the news is “often biased.”

Moscow residents were also among the least likely to trust the media as a whole, Mediastandart reported.

Maybe now that we're Putin's lap dog, Americans will at least begin to catch up with the Russians and learn the difference between news and bullshit.

And by the way, Russians Losing Trust in Government and Putin

. . . Just as clueless Americans admire him and want to become more authoritarian and less, well...American (with their damn Constitution...silly annoying document).

Maybe we should adopt Russia's educational system.

If it leads to better informed thinking citizens. Now that we're all cozy with Russia and all.

Russian news is biased....so perhaps you have a bit of point regarding free will.
Or do you remember China we will not militarise South China Sea Islands.

West is as bad or worse, especially America. I use the BBC as a guide and thats not to bad....I am not sure what the American Equivalent is?

Are Americans more brainwashed do you think? I think so.

NPR and Public TV as a general rule.

But media is now and has been a very important profit center, so it will forever be based on keeping sponsors and ownership (investors) happy. Fox is the most successful example of very profitable 'news' that they want you to hear and appeals to the public's partisan prejudices and does so...very profitably.

I don't know. NPR played into the pro-Hillary coronation pretty well during the primaries.

Emperor Putin is in power in America because of misinformation & the gullibility idiocy of some Americans brains to be fine tuned with errant garbage and only that kind of fodder; for they have developed a ravenous hunger for shit streams.

And I am not even discussing those fake news stories wasn't someone the other week shooting up one of your McDonald's. Boscox and shortly afterwards someone removed from monsters team for not removing that tweet….what position was he being considered for anyone remember and how did the tweet go...

Comrade Tramps schizo tweet manifesto makes for interesting reading depending which way the wind is blowing.

Actually I find this a completely depressing statistic as it means half of them are fools. All media is biased. It always has been and always will be. It is the nature of the beast.

That's a sweeping dismissal that doesn't represent the scope of bias raised here.

No, she is right. Journalism is dead. No one believes ESPECIALLY the mainstream media any more, including Socialistic Street (NPR / PBS)

No, it's a simple statement of fact. And if you think what is happening now is unprecedented, well then you simply don't know much about the history of journalism at all.

OK, fine. One size fits all.

Not really a critical thinking model, but fine.

All bias, slight or grossly intentional is all the same. If you say so.

It's just all biased. That why all news is irrelevant, right? No distinction at all?

Spare me the history snark.

i didn't say that, but it's such a pretty strawman. Now run along and play with your little friends.

Yeah, you really did. You dismissed the discussion immediately as "all reporting is biased," which technically is true, but ignores that the amount of bias, and whether that bias is intentional, as if those factors were irrelevant given "all reporting is biased," and then attempted to cover your tracks with snark pretending you're the only one who understands journalism as a nasty past.

Then you had a hissy fit when you got called on it.
