I mean, other than backing the side fighting the side we were backing.

FFS. [8|]

Um, you realise US armed ISIS against Assad right?
Whereas Russia is actually wanting to put down ISIS.

I know, right? I mean, someone please explain that one!?

I think they tend to lose their way easily.

Explanation:
ISIS conquered their American weaponry when defeating the US supplied Iraqi army at their conquest of Mosul and other northern Iraqi districts.

Russia is wanting to destroy any anti Assad forces. Since IS in Syria - at the moment - is no big threat to the major cities like Damascus or the coastal areas but keeps to the central north and north-east destroying IS is not top of the list for Putin. Maybe this will change. Right now Putin and Assad have other priorities.

Thanks for the explanation. I've kind of ignored this whole Syria thing until now when i saw that video about the poor people in Aleppo. I read something that said that the US was backing the anti- Assad forces because they want to weaken Iran's allies.

blnymph -> RE: Russia, Iran and Turkey Meet on Syria, Excluding U.S. (12/25/2016 2:56:31 AM)

The USA is primarily backing the Free Syrian Army (former army members rebelling), and (together with others) the Peshmerga (Kurdish liberation force). Since these are Kurds Turkey is blocking any supply for them while the Peshmerga are the most active force fighting ISIS and defending the non Arab minorities in the North (including Yesidis and Christians).

Russia has joined Assad and the Iranian - Hisb'llah Shia coalition fighting any opposition but with the primary intention to stabilise Assad control, thus ISIS is low on their list, while FSA is top.

Turkey is protecting the Turkmen minority in Syria and whenever possible supports anyone fighting the Kurds. Erdogan denies that this includes ISIS but there have been various reports about supplies for ISIS via Turkey.

Various states in the region support different groups (including Saudi Arabia and Qatar for ISIS) as long as these are anti Shia and anti Iran. Whether these groups are also fighting Assad is of minor importance for them.

Obama people have screamed for a generation how awful REAGAN was for arming Mujaheddin against the Soviets in Afghanistan, claimed REAGAN was responsible for 9/11 for arming Muslims. Claimed Bush was a nazi for helping free the Iraqi people, for liberating Afghanistan from Muslim hardliners

Now they clap and cheer as Obama arms Muslims

No compass, fuck leftist trash

BOO

Go home worthless fucks

Extra Credit to anyone who can say persuasively what the US policy in Syria should have been.

Leave it alone. Should have left it alone from day one.

There were some small protests there, but we got OWS, Kent State, Tienanmen Square, all OK. How the US is going to have to either withdraw or get hip deep in there. And the same shit will happen, no matter what happens, they will have a common enemy now -- the US.

T^T

Why should the U.S. be involved in middle eastern negotiations; other than hubris that is? Russia, Iran, and Turkey are near neighbors to Syria and Iran and Turkey are bordering countries. The U.S. is on the other side of the friggin' globe.

The US was also arming anti-Assad rebel groups, but not the ones who had already sided with ISIS. Some, though, have joined in with ISIS since being armed.

But, what right do we have to arm anti-Assad rebels anyway?

US Comprehensive Middle Easy policy:
  • To all ME Countries not named Israel, leave Israel alone and we'll leave you alone.
  • To Israel, leave everyone else alone and we'll have your back if you need it.
  • To all ME countries, good luck, and godspeed.

What right does the US have to arm the rest of the world?

Selling guns is what we do.

Except for Muhammad himself. Obama and Hillary have fucked the ME up more than anyone in history with their Arab Spring adventures. The left used to scream about the US intervening in the ME up until when, yesterday?

NOW, that's our number one job - world cop. Islam is our fault. And Trump has been in charge for the last eight years...

You have totally lost your mind.

There are Muslims on all sides of this conflict. It's you with no clue.
