I guess the lesson here is that as long as you follow Fox News and random right-wing blogs exclusively, and label everything else liberal brainwashing, you'll feel good about the future.

And I guess the lesson, here is that you know sweet fuck-all about me. I watch Wolf and Madcow, every day. Nice try, but no mind reading certificate for you, today.

You're dismissed.

Michael

lemme chime in to say I find such statements about fox news incredibly idiotic because its clear from the people who make them, that they don't actually watch it.

I watch tons of Fox News. It has always been a humorously partisan comic book / tabloid faux "News" channel (Chris Wallace being the ONLY exception). I will say, since Trump's election, it has become .0000000000001% less so! Progress!

(With the exception of Chris Wallace), Fox continuously broadcasts a stream of simplistic opinion for the low-information viewer, mixed sparsely with some "News". I still love to watch it. It is still entertaining.

There is an elderly, low-information audience for this stuff. Take Bill O'Reilly for example. His books ("The "Killing" series) (completely devoid of most significant facts) sell like hotcakes. "Killing Kennedy" was even made into a TV movie! I watched it for a good laugh. It ran like Mike Huckabee's Ronald Reagan comic books for kids.

O'Reilly has no deep understanding of any current events, or domestic or foreign policy, nor does he have any significant historical knowledge of any major figure in U.S. History. But he has the #1 Cable show, and a half a dozen bestsellers.

The funny things is, O'Reilly is the MOST knowledgeable of the bunch! (I LOVE his "Talking Points" at the beginning of the show. Each bullet he puts up on the screen is so deeply factually flawed as a premise, it make the entire segment devoid of any logic.)

Keep in mind, O'Reilly is miles ahead of people like Eric Bolling, or Sean Hannity as far as ANY understanding of current events.

My Mother watches him nightly and calls me on the phone to regurgitate all his talking points (She's almost 90).

I'm not a thinker because i believe Jesus was crucified because he was a threat to their power as opposed to that he was just being nice to people. Lol.

CNN actually seemed a little more balanced today than usual.

And in the first gulf war they admitted to collaborating with the Iraqis.

cnn hasnt been balanced since Zucker took over, and even more right wing when they gave corey lewandowski a job while he was still with trump.

CNN has been my primary go to source for a lot of news lately.
They gave Clinton debate questions in advance, that is balance?
I thought they do a fairly good job of being moderate, if that is even
possible for a news source these days.
hummmm
It looks like there is NO real news source on t.v. that is not biased, if what you think is true.

The Clinton News Network is balanced?

Lucy said CNN is far right and now Bama states it is far left??
If the people on here, think it is far right AND far left---that settles it!
How many channels can combine being FAR left and FAR right?
CNN must be doing something right.

People on this board, can't even agree on which way CNN is biased.
lol
I will now enjoy CNN even more.

Lucy seems to think thar Trotsky was far right.
I at least provided evidence .
They are not so much far left as they have sold out to the Democratic party.
And they were willing to serve as a propaganda tool for Iraq.

Unfortunately when you "corrected me" you assumed that I didn't understand the historical context and what the Bible says about the crucifixion, because I had used a fairly well-known quote (in quotation marks) which deliberately reduced the reasons ad absurdum.

I could easily argue that the message of Jesus in terms of loving your neighbour, being non-judgemental, non-vengeful, caring for the vulnerable and being suspicious of elements of organised religion constituted being "nice to people for a change", as well as a threat both to the Roman overlords and elements of organised Judaism at the time. His role as a radical made him a threat to the Romans and dissuaded many of his own people from trying to rescue him from his fate. "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" bemoans the fact that many attempts to improve society are swept away by mindless events or displays of political strength and are largely lost in history. Those simple words read in context are in fact sophisticated, thoughtful and poignant.

Making that argument would kind of spoil the point though (and ruin the impact through over-explanation).

It's 2000 years since Jesus preached a radical ministry of peace and love which essentially led to his execution. Reminding ourselves about the value of goodwill to our fellow humans, whatever our religion or belief system, can be no bad thing. That is all I was doing.

Unless of course it's more important to nit pick and find fault.
