ORIGINAL: tj444 umm.. Canada doesnt need to own Hollywood, Silicon Valley, etc, it has its own.. guess you have never heard of "Hollywood North"??? aka Vancouver, BC, some filming goes on in Ontario and other provinces too tho.. The TSE is our wall street.. and Microsoft and other tech, gaming & animation corps are located or have locations in Canada, many in Vancouver.. considering that Canada has only 10% of the population the US has, it does pretty damn good.. Trans Canada pipeline is going ahead now and will be completed by about 2018, so then Canadian oil will be sold/shipped to China and less to the US.. Canada has kept more of its middle class than the US has, which is why the US economy is still limping along.. as for higher taxes.. Canada's taxes arent much or any higher, especially considering health care is included (some provinces require small fees).. You really think that taxes on your wages are going down when Trump cuts corporate rates??? who do you think is gonna pay your national debt, especially with rising interest rates? and right now corporate tax rates are much lower in Canada which is why some US corps have moved operations there.. But hey, keep the myths alive, cuz that will keep more Americans in America and more Canadian jobs for Canadians.. [;)] I don't know why anyone would be upset about their country becoming bigger, especially when that expansion includes some of the most vital areas of the most powerful economy in the world. This is a scenario where parts of America would be joining Canada as opposed to Canada joining America-- it's not the same thing. It's not like you'd be getting a lot of useless manufacturing, empty desert or farmland... we're talking about the BEST parts of America in terms of culture, the economy, innovation, education... and it's also the people who love Canada the most. They voted for Obama because they wanted to be more like Canada! I seriously think it would be win-win, except for the whole war with the rest of America thing. Sure, Canada has its own version of these things like every other country... but it's on a much smaller scale. A lot of Canadian actors, singers, etc.... still have to go to America to really 'make it big'. I get that Canadians are proud as hell but it's not like Canadian culture has the same degree of influence globally... A pipeline for China isn't going to bring the price of oil back up, or make the tar sands oil any cheaper to produce. If Trump's idiotic plan to flood the market with oil just to create jobs actually happens, then I can't imagine oil is going to become any more precious any time soon. And Americans don't have a federal tax on goods and services, which tends to be more noticeable for consumers than a corporate tax. I think it would be a great country personally, and I would be really excited to live there. You dont understand cuz you arent Canadian.. Americans think we are just like them but we arent, we are actually very different, have a different culture and different way of looking at things.. we arent ruled like you are by the 1% and big corporations.. they cant buy our politicians like they do in the US.. We have a very long history of not wanting to be part of the US, of not having our country changed into being just like the US.. We dont like the way you/your govt does many of the things you do.. we are opposite of you on many things... the invasion of Iraq, for instance, health care, and of course, remember, some Americans even think we are "commies".. [8|] If we thought like Americans do then we would be all for this (just like you are), but we arent, we are very against it.. we know what would happen and we want no part of it.. we want our country to stay the way it is.. FYI, the primary reason for the pipeline isnt to make more money, its to gain access to other markets.. its to diversify away from the US..
