Actually, they got it initially by:
1) Physically migrating there in greater numbers that already lived there) (Keep in mind, back in 1917, Britian announced an intention to create a Jewish state in Palestine) (Also, keep in mind, if one was a Jew living in Germany in the 30's, Palestine would be a MUCH better place to live)
2) Revolting against the British
3) Getting a U.N. resolution to get a part of the land (displacing some Arabs living there) (After the Arabs living there were rioting and protesting Jewish immigration)
(Full disclosure, I am skipping over the attack at Deir Yassin by Israeli forces to displace Arab villages near the roads into Jerusalem (which at the time was NOT part of Israel)
They were immediately attacked by Egypt and Syria, and Jordan (ALL outside forces NOT living there). In fact, the these forces traveled through the Arab side of the partition in order to attack Israel in the first place.
Israel expelled these forces both from their own land, which at that time, was a tiny strip of land on what is now their Western border, as well as the Arab partition. Israel, then annexed 60% of the Arab partition as well. (Displacing approximately 700,000 Arabs in Palestine) The circumstances on how/why these Arabs left is a topic of debate, but they were not "slaughtered"
Transjordan, a quasi-state (former British protectorate), took over the rest of the Arab partition, and Egypt grabbed the Gaza strip. (So much for Arab unity, our "Palestinian brothers").
Fast forward to 1956, Egypt, violating the peace deal it signed with Israel, as part of the last defeat, nationalized the Suez canal (not sure what they were thinking).
Israel, attacked Egypt via Gaza (Egyptian territory at the time), and BTW captured the Sinai Peninsula. Britain and France, who had been raping the region for decades of its oil resources joined in the attack as well.
Eisenhower was completely caught off guard and denounced the Israeli, British, French, joint attack (OMG!!!!! If the low-information sycophants of today's Republican party were adults in 1956!!!! (Actually, they would have said nothing because the official line would have been "it's ok")
Fast forward to 1967 - Egypt (Nasser just won't give up), blockaded Israeli shipping in the straits of Aqaba, and allies with Syria and Jordan to "drive Israel into the sea"
Israel launches a pre-emptive strike and retakes Gaza once again (they had given it back to Egypt after international pressure to do so), the Sinai once again (same story as Gaza), and this time, they added the Golan Heights (as they were getting sick of Syrians lobbing artillery shells at them from there), AND they added a HUGE chunk of the West Bank (owned by Jordan, but occupied by Palestinian Arabs (many of whom were displaced back in '48 and '56)
So now, there are 250,000 new Palestinian refugees (a good portion had JUST resettled from the last time) (Again not "slaughtered").
The UN Security Council passes Resolution 242 emphasizing the "inadmissibility of acquisition of territory by war". Sorry, have to laugh at this as the council was made up of member countries who have acquired MASSIVE amounts of territory by war.
OK... I will stop with the timeline... But the answer to your question is NO.
They didn't get the territory by slaughtering people already living there. They did however, forcibly displace about a million people already living there (some as part of the creation of Israel, and the majority in huge annexations in the course of war, when THEY were attacked.
