Who?

Carrie Fisher's mom and famous actress in her own right. Wow.
http://www.tmz.com/2016/12/28/debbie-reynolds-dead/

Debbie Reynolds--who rose to stardom in "Singin' in the Rain" and quickly became a staple among Hollywood royalty -- died Wednesday as a result of a stroke, TMZ has learned ... just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away ... this according to her son Todd.

Debbie was rushed to a hospital shortly after 1 PM when someone at the Beverly Hills home of her son, Todd, called 911 to report a possible stroke. We're told Debbie and Todd were making funeral plans for Carrie, who died Tuesday of cardiac arrest.

Debbie famously divorced Eddie Fisher in 1959 after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Debbie married 2 more times in 1960 and 1984.

She played iconic roles in "Tammy and the Bachelor" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" ... for which she earned an Oscar nomination.

Carrie's relationship with Debbie was the focus of Carrie's semi-autobiographical book, "Postcards from the Edge," which was later adapted for the big screen, starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.

Debbie's survived by her son Todd, who tells us, "She's with Carrie."

She was 84.

She is of the Doris Day/Elizabeth Taylor era.

Debbie Reynolds will alway be remembered in Las Vegas having owned what was once the Royal Americana Hotel Casino then the Paddlewheel Hotel Casino (1983–1993) renaming it the Debbie Reynolds' Hollywood Hotel (1993–1999).

She had divorced Eddie Fisher when he had an affair with Elizabeth Taylor.

It later became the Clarion Hotel Casino and was bought in 2014 and then imploded in 2015.

She became somewhat of a Vegas icon, had performed here may times and then obviously became quite a regular.

My thoughts and prayers for Reynolds' soul and to all her family. I was a huge fan of a lot of her work and I am strangely dismayed that my surmise was correct.

Rest in peace, DR.

MrRodgers:
As far as the whole Vegas thing goes, she gets a namecheck from HST in Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas for a stageshow she was doing with Harry James, doesn't she? (Not very positive as write ups go, iirc...)

I am an aficionado of old and classic movies.

Debbie Reynolds was one of the LAST of living actors from the golden age of hollywood.

Debbie Reynolds is a motion picture icon, and starred in many musicals and drama's, and she had a movie career that spanned at least 40 plus years.
Debbie Reynolds was a major movie star in her day.

These movies included: Singin In the Rain Tammy, Tammy and the Bachelor, The Singing Nun, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Goodbye Charlie.

My personal favorite movie with Debbie Reynolds, is "What's the Matter with Helen?", which still makes me jump.

Debbie Reynolds represents a class of movie stars that does not exist any more.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us, lovely Debbie.

RIP Debbie.

Or the next 5-30 years years. The baby boomer generation starts becoming the RIP generation soon enough now.

Expect a commensurate increase in number of "who's that?" responses.

Thank goodness for idle curiosity and occasional note of 'respeck!' that lives through generations regarding before-time icons and idols. And thank goodness not too much.
