Hey is there any metalheads on here?

Feel free to share and discuss the stuff you like.

Here is the albums and songs I've listened to a lot recently. Also you can show us your band if you're in one.

Iron Reagan - The Tyranny of Will (Crossover Thrash)
Power Trip - Firing Squad (Thrash)
Fiend - Split 7" w/ Dead Issue (Grind)
Purge - Sewage 7" (Grind)

I usually listen to Tech and Brutal Death but I haven't found a lot of good new stuff recently.

Yay Heavy music topic!

I am more into hardcore than metal, but ya know, the genre is still in the "heavy music" genre.
Haven't heard of any of those bands you mentioned. But nice taste! Am hearing them all for the first time!

Wow, Iron Reagan reminds me so much of old school hardcore, except hardcore has no guitar solos. I love it!

Power Trip for me is just so generic for it's genre. I guess it's as classic Thrash as it could be. Music like these are better live than on studio.

Definitely not into Fiend and Purge has the screechy screaming which I cannot stand! I like gruffy screams.

My personal favourites, heavy but not technically metal okay, mostly what I grew up listening to that I consider part of the hardcore genre, I am stuck in that time period, Blood For Blood being my absolute top favourite and I couldn't find another band that could compare, plus their own new stuffs got too punk:

Madball - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6AOAv7mD3E

Blood for Blood - https://youtu.be/2yToHQ_1h_M?t=11

Snapcase - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ema6vYHlSAQ

Will Haven - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6oCaGNyOX0

This Day Forward (Melodic Hardcore, my favourite bed time music)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WrCZXIFwGM

Everytime I die - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEMtu-zF9DA

I was at school with "Metal Fred": he was an irritating wanker even back then:

(Sorry: couldn't resist...)

7" records? Does somebody here have a turntable?

That thing behind your left shoulder (to viewer's right) somewhat resembles an Altec A7 or Voice of the Theater cab. (I'm just trying to get hired by Hollywood as a "Retro Spotter," don't mind me.)

In any case I'm with Gretta on the latter two; I prefer my yelling and screaming to be an octave or two lower, but otherwise the accompaniment is just fine.

I am not attempting to invoke any P&R into the discussion or to Off The Grid at all, but this one came into my head often during the debates:

Mein Land

Oh man, that is so close to Schubert and Brahms.

Diffident -> RE: Metal thread (1/1/2017 9:35:14 AM)

I am almost that old :) 47

Dio truly was a great singer, and by most accounts a great man as well.

For me, his greatest moment will always be this... Stargazer

WhoreMods -> RE: Metal thread (1/3/2017 11:16:34 AM)

No mention of the Lem?
How about big Al Jourgenson?
Then there's the gnome of Darkness...

PeonForHer -> RE: Metal thread (1/3/2017 12:02:27 PM)

quote:

No mention of the Lem?

All I heard when I first heard Sir Lemmington singing that was ....

A wha wha wha wha
Wha wha wha wha
wha wha wha
The Ace of Spades!
The Ace of Spades!

... I only really started listening to the lyrics of songs after I ditched my small 'ghetto blaster' and went digital.

WhoreMods -> RE: Metal thread (1/3/2017 12:08:34 PM)

Those are the lyrics, sport....

latexVagabond -> RE: Metal thread (1/4/2017 2:50:54 AM)

@Greta75

Blood for blood was pretty cool. When it comes to hardcore I'm more familliar with Hatebreed, BARF, Sick of it all and others.

@Edwird

it's a chair... I use a Trace Eliot GP7SM 250 combo amp and it's at the jam space.

I see there's a lot of old shcool people here and that's okay. I always love some Dio, Rainbow and Sabbath. Dio was one of the best shows I've seen live.

Nile - Lashed to the Slave Stick Tech Death

Anaal Nathrakh - You Can't Save Me, So Stop Fucking Trying Blackened/Grind

Artillery - Life in Bondage Progressive Thrash

RINGWORM - "Hammer of the Witch" Hardcore

Judas Priest - Leather Rebel Heavy Metal

WhoreMods -> RE: Metal thread (1/4/2017 5:08:18 AM)

A bit surprised that's the first mention of Black Sabbath in this thread, really.
