Russians said to hack into Vermont utility, showing risk to U.S. electrical grid

The utility detected malware code associated with the Russian hacking operation dubbed Grizzly Steppe by the Obama administration. The Russians did not actively use the code to disrupt operations of the utility, according to officials, who say they aren't sure what the intentions of the Russians were.

More fake news. The malware was discovered on a single laptop that wasn't even connected to the grid. Some dumb user apparently clicked on fish-bait, probably because he was using the computer for unintended purposes, end of story.

I'd agree we don't need to call out the National Guard. Overblown is the nature of every damn headline in every damn publication today.

But hardly "fake." It is indeed a susceptibility, with both intent and a way in.

That it works because Americans are just that dump just makes the story sadder.

How long are you going to continue blaming others for your posting obvious fake news

You are seriously mentally disturbed in my opinion. Are the Martians making you do it?

For that utility, not enough, apparently.
Production Supervisor at my work: "We need to make the process as error-proof as possible so the operators don't make mistakes."

Me: Get rid of the operators with automation. That's the only way you're going to be able to error-proof any process that involves human interaction.

I coudnt be bothered threading this one. Ruskies are coming and I had half nice poll written out and then i was like cannae be bothered and fuked of to the shop for a nice bottle of cheapest bedwetting chardonnay. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-38479179

What nutter said it was a fake news story. Utility wise I imagine all countries to be in each others utility-network - shrugs.

Actually I think Comrade Elect Trump to be a total fake news story, Russian propaganda no doubt, and the nutters called Americans to be engaged in Civil War.

Probably so. Until they get smarter hackers.
