Donald Trump makes top Republican fear environmental future

A leading US Republican says she fears for the future of her seven grandchildren with Donald Trump in the White House.

Christine Todd Whitman, head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under George W Bush, accused Mr Trump of ignoring compelling science.

And she warned that his threat to scrap climate protection policies puts the world's future at risk.

Trump supporters say rules on climate and energy are stifling business.
But Ms Todd Whitman says the US must find ways of promoting business without unduly harming the planet.

Details of Mr Trump's climate policy are not yet clear, but his team have talked about boosting coal, opening new oil pipelines, and allowing mining on public wilderness or drilling in the Arctic.

On the political side, they have suggested quitting the global climate deal, scrapping President Obama's clean power plan, and dismantling the US energy department along with the EPA itself.

I've never before seen any government, especially one that used to lead in science, officially claim science isn't real.

Why would anyone want to actually want to solve a problem when you can just pretend it's a liberal hoax?

At this point we're pretty much fucked no matter what we do anyways, so why not make it as bad as possible?

You can make more money that way, and even if society collapses when our grandchildren are dying in wars over water and food, I'm pretty sure that they will have better weapons to kill with.

I don't see what the problem is.

Ive got real news for you, that's just more alt left fake news.

Christine Todd Whitman isn't the top Republican - Donald Trump, is the top Republican. Its actually not too hard to find some nobody on either side who is willing to say just about anything, and that's all your fake news source did

What's the last time anyone heard somebody say, "Oh - Christine Todd Whitman! Why, she is the top Republican!" Or even "a leading Republican"

Where would the alt left be without their fake news

Probably not quite so hysterical all of the time?

Ah. So she's not significant, and she's not insignificant -- she's "not totally insignificant."

Good to know former Republican governors and Fed agency heads under Bush are not significant.

I am a generalist and have a wide and varied and somewhat in depth knowledge of climate science. I not only really all the news articles I can, I also try to read many of the scientific studies behind those articles.

Just to clarify, the Earth is not fucked. The Earth will gone on for billions of year more. Life will very likely continue to exist though in very different forms.

Is Humanity fucked?

No, NOT yet. But a long means not yet. But it depend on what Humanity DOES and DOES soon and into the future how fucked it will be.

Is Civilization fucked? Maybe, but again, it depends on what we do and how soon we do it.

Is Civilization in trouble? Oh, yes, seriously trouble. We certainly have made the next 75 years (and likely beyond) a BIG MESS for Humanity.

The question is not can we stop that, but rather can we NOT make it an even BIGGER MESS.

I think Humanity can -- but it means getting past The Dumb. That has always been the core problem of Humanity. The know-nothings who believe that Ignorant opinions are of equal value to Knowledgeable ones; that Stupidity is worth just as much as Intelligence.

And it means getting past The Dumb As Soon As Possible. Trump the Clown and the Clueless Republicans in the USA are a serious threat to our entire planet -- of course, as Completely Clueless as they are, they really have no actual understanding of that face.

One of the things that will come back and slap the United States hard in the face is if starts undoing the leadership it has shown in leading the fight and developing the technology to deal -- somewhat -- with Climate Change. And UNDOING seems exactly what Orange Trump and the Little Republican Minds plan to do.

If the United States seriously tries and is even partially successful in Undoing, we are going to make things hotter and heavier for everyone on Earth. That means when (IF?) America every finds some degree of Rationality again, and the sooner the folks who don't think about tomorrow, are kicked HARD out the door is URGENT -- cause we are not only going to have to clean up the Mess the US already made, but the additional MESS the self-centered egotists *will* start making come the middle of January 2017.

The thing is, globally, the US is going to LOSE a massive amount of influence in the world because of this narrow-minded K00KS from it's failure to stay out front on Climate -- and that will also mean lose of influence in a lot of other areas.

Which means -- China wins! Yes as polluted and dirty that nation is, China is pushing damn hard to get itself passed oil and coal additions into renewal energy and Better Living For All (more or less). When (IF?) America regains sanity, it is going to be far behind in 2nd place.

Which means Man-baby Trump and the GOP will not have succeed a fair great America "Great", but will long=term make it much Lesser.

Right now for Humanity, the most important thing is for Us to make it through the next years of Trump The Clueless at least to the point where the United States (and the world) can rebound from this Ultraconservative Tragic Farce that soon will be playing worldwide.

*SHIT*

. . .
