Soon after 9/11 even Bush was saying that it's important that Americans recognize the difference between regular Muslims and extremists-- it's pretty amazing just how strong the alt-right has become.

And of course you and every other alt left fanatic out there have always worshiped President Bush's judgement

Thank god Trump got in, over Jeb. Last thing the world needed was another RINO Bush

My point is that right-wingers used to be capable of reason.
Not anymore.

I work with literally dozens of liberals who are Christians as well. I personally know many, many more. They don't hate Christians. They do however have issues with people who tell them that if they were good Christians they would hate liberals. They seem to get that a lot.

The original article had nothing to do with liberals and or conservatives and bringing them into it does not negate nor even address the issues brought up in the OP.

given the nature of conversation, we find ourselves frequently speaking in general terms. finding exceptions to general rules don't actually make them less so.

I like to think we are all also wise enough also to recognize that, so that every time people write something, they don't have to say "generally speaking" or "I know there are exceptions to this, but..."

and im not trying to "negate" anything brought up in the OP. I offered these up as what I called them, "companion pieces," they are a part of the larger conversation when it comes to religion, faith and our social/political worldviews.

and the op did indeed have to do with "liberals and or conservatives" in so much as the latter of those are identified with republicans, or the "right." (whichever one Vincent mentioned.)

I find it extremely humorous to see "liberals" denying their deranged hatred for Christians

Sure, there are "liberal" Christians... But that (along with their warmly embracing Islam) only makes their overt hatred of Christians even more bizarre

Even the headline to this thread, crowing about the demise of religion, betrays their intense hatred

Musicmystery -> RE: The Long Slow Death of Religion (1/4/2017 1:03:29 PM)

I think the premise is flawed. I seriously doubt religion is dying, or will die.

that was a part of my motivation for sharing what I did also.

It won't die as long as people want eternal life and don't trust themself to find it without following someone else's rules.

I actually looked up this 'Arpig' person... he said he quit the site because of health problems.
Anyways, he seemed like a cool guy so if you want to pretend that's who I am, go ahead.

I shall call you 'Motherfuckerface'.

Several surveys have found a rise in the percentage of Americans not claiming a religious affiliation. The latest Pew Survey said the percentage of unaffiliated Americans rose from 16 percent in 2007 to 23 percent in 2014. The 2014 General Social Survey reported the percentage of Americans with no religious preference was 21 percent.

But the issue of what it means to be a "none" calls up all sorts of questions from defining the faith of individuals who do not immediately identify with an institution to methodological issues over how research can best capture the beliefs of respondents during a time of dramatic change in American culture...

It is critical for researchers to ask follow-up questions to individuals who do not claim an affiliation in an initial broad question to accurately determine their beliefs and practices, said sociologist Byron Johnson, co-director of the Institute for the Study of Religion at Baylor.

For example, in the Baylor Religion Survey, 31 percent of people who said they did not know what religion they were provided the name of a congregation they attended, Johnson said. "What’s happening is we’re inflating the numbers of ‘nones’ out there," Johnson said.

I wonder if part of it is that people don't want to be held under the 'Control' or be subservient to another person... such as a minister, etc.

This is what I opined: If the trend continues the right wing Republican theocratic alliance is doomed.

It was just a political speculation; I don't know of any left-wing Democratic theocratic alliances. Furthermore, I don't know if it is a true trend and/or if it will continue.

Yes. However in its death throes it may turn out to be even more vicious than we are already accustomed to.

If the GOP's adoption of Trump proves anything, it is that when push comes to shove the right's attempts to cling onto power will be as ruthless and devoid of principle as The Mop himself. The US can look forward to 4 years of wholesale gerrymandering and ever increasing restrictions on the right to vote as it seeks to entrench itself in power in the knowledge that its core constituency is slowly dying off. Nothing will be off limits.
Ruthless clinging to power? Devoid of Principe? Are you referring to the:

DNC push to rid themselves of Sanders?

The feeding of questions to Hillary by the media before debates?

The media telling us how Hillary's just going to pulverize Trump in an attempt to discourage voting for Trump?
