So theres this happening..... http://nypost.com/2017/01/06/trump-asks-congress-not-mexico-to-pay-for-border-wall/ Trump asks Congress — not Mexico — to pay for border wall He declared Mexico would pay for it, but now President elect Donald Trump is asking Congress to provide the funds for his promised wall on the southern border, according to a report. Trump’s transition team reached out to GOP members of Congress in an effort to have them add funding for the massive project in an appropriations bill within the next few months, according to CNN. The move comes after Trump has offered conflicting statements throughout the campaign about how such a wall would be paid for. During the campaign Trump repeatedly whipped crowds into a frenzy with a call-and-response chant of “Build the Wall,” followed by Trump asking “Who’s going to pay for it?” and the crowd responding “Mexico.” The president elect’s own transition website puts the wall as priority one on his 10 Point Plan for immigration. “Begin working on an impenetrable physical wall on the southern border, on day one. Mexico will pay for the wall,” it states. The statement, however, links to a document with caveats such as “There are several ways to compel Mexico to pay for the wall” and that they could just reimburse us for the cost. Republicans on Capital Hill cited a 2006 law signed by former President George W. Bush that authorized construction of a border wall as justification for the funding, according to Politico. The cost of a wall across the border is expected to cost up to $14 billion for construction alone. Is there anyone that thinks that mexico will "owe" for the wall for decades and that you will end up paying for it?? Or could you see this as a viable alternative:) Republican Sheriff Wants To Make Prison Inmates Build Trump’s Border Wall. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/thomas-hodgson-sheriff_us_586eafe4e4b099cdb0fc4238?vxphue9qfc877gb9 A Massachusetts county sheriff has proposed sending prison inmates from around the United States to build the proposed wall along the Mexican border that is one of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s most prominent campaign promises. “I can think of no other project that would have such a positive impact on our inmates and our country than building this wall,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson said at his swearing-in ceremony for a fourth term in office late Wednesday. “Aside from learning and perfecting construction skills, the symbolism of these inmates building a wall to prevent crime in communities around the country, and to preserve jobs and work opportunities for them and other Americans upon release, can be very powerful,” he said. Hodgson, who like Trump is a Republican, said inmates from around the country could build the proposed wall, described by Trump as a powerful deterrent to illegal immigration. Trump, who will be sworn in on Jan. 20, insisted during his campaign that he would convince the Mexican government to pay for the wall, though Mexican officials have repeatedly said they would not do so.
