BoscoX -> Obama's Speech: "...for me, it’s always been about you.” (1/11/2017 4:24:43 AM)

So long, president you. You are sure you are going to miss you

quote:

President Obama referred to himself 75 times in his farewell address Tuesday night, according to a review of his prepared remarks by The Daily Caller.

Obama heavily promoted the speech, penning a blog post about it and appearing in a promotional video in the days leading up to the address.

The president made a habit of focusing large chunks of his speeches on himself during his eight years in office.

Last July, for example, he mentioned himself 45 times over the course of a speech given at a speech for the slain Dallas police officers. (RELATED: Obama Mentions Himself 45 Times During Memorial Speech For Dallas Officers)

In his blog post promoting the speech, Obama encouraged Americans to tune in “because, for me, it’s always been about you.”

the daily caller? It might as well have come from faux news.
But, apparently Nobama is a piker with self-aggrandizement compared to the Chump.

really? and because its the daily caller its what? inaccurate? then correct the story.

or coming from a perspective you don't agree with? then share your own perspective that still addresses the content.

otherwise, at least i'll assume, as indicated by your post and oh so clever "faux news" moniker, youre just another brain dead liberal incapable of critical thought and there are already too many of them here.

The DailyCaller is a nutsucker slobberblog, along with many others. Factless propaganda, nothing of substance, pure toiletlicking. Not one provably factual story in the lifetime of its felchgobbling.

Thats my perspective, I have shared it repeatedly.

Others have shared that opinion, and addressed the content in less mordant ways.

Anything and everything has been far more accurate than all of the relic media agencies of late

"Hillary is inevitable"

Not really since all the nutsuckers have supressed their deep ties to communism, facts, Putin and Trumps collusion, and voters rights

A big deal has been made by the Daily Caller about how many times President Obama mentioned himself in his farewell speech. It was broken down like this:

I.....33 times
My.....20 times
Me.....10 times
I'm or I've.....12 times

That is a total of 75 times in approximately 51 minutes. That averages out to approximately 1.47 times per minute.

So I went to Ex President George W. Bush's farewell address. He only spoke for about 13 minutes. Using the same I, My, Me, and I'm or I've criteria I counted how many times he used those same words. It worked out to this:

I.....33 times
My.....6 times
me.....4 times
I'm or I've.....1 time

That is a total of 44 times in approximately 13 minutes, which works out to approximately 3.38 times per minute.

Somehow Bush's 3.38 times per minute was okay, but Obama's 1.47 times per minute was worth whining about.

Are people aware he's only president another 9 days?

bounty44 -> RE: Obama's Speech: "...for me, it’s always been about you.” (1/11/2017 1:35:42 PM)

i did similarly, and our numbers came out a little differently, but that's to be expected. when this is done for actual research purposes, multiple people will do the counting multiple times.

on the whole, just using words, minus the context, is not a good measure of the variable being looked at. for instance, I've got George bush's in front of me and its hard to say that "my fellow americans" or "I remember standing in the rubble of the world trade center..." or "I have been blessed..." is not only something that should be criticized, but also are the same as statements that are self centered/self aggrandizing. the latter is what really needs to be looked at.

Musicmystery -> RE: Obama's Speech: "...for me, it’s always been about you.” (1/12/2017 11:00:31 AM)

Yeah, context matters.

If it were just word counting, anyone could write a great speech. Put in these words this many times.
