ORIGINAL: MrRodgers I like to read these to get some of the details, like these: “The way it is nowadays, unless I see positive proof, it’s all a lie,” Mr. Ameling said in a telephone interview on Wednesday." I wonder if he felt that way about what the press and the right was saying about Hillary ? They know that the media are Hillary's peeps. Everyone knows that. So the things that leaked by the media about crooked Hillary were thought to be just the tip of the iceberg (so to speak) And for the same reason they understood that none of the hysteria about Trump could be believed And that's exactly how it played out at the polls And that's exactly how they see it now. The media went all in for Hillary, gave up every pretension of fairness, and it cost them big Like I've said here elsewhere, when the partisan want to believe the worse about their opponents and their sources...it's all too easy. Now the same partisans do not believe the same sources about their guy. This despite the fact that the NYT for one example, got buried in text and email about how hard they were on Hillary. Well, I guess that we should also consider the possibility that they do believe, but don't actually care. Most of them don't even care if others lose their freedom so long as they still get to feel good about themselves and feel like white culture and traditional roles can still be in charge. There's a certain security in knowing that you and your children will always be taken care of and treated with respect because you were born the right color. This attitude has always been there, it just became less socially acceptable... and it's really draining and frustrating when you have these thoughts and desires that someone is telling you not to express, or relentlessly shaming you for having them. You can't upset them with all the Russia stuff because they genuinely love Putin. They love that he is an autocrat who invades other countries. They see him as a 'strong leader' and they actually crave the very use of force that they love to condemn others for... what matters is that it's directed at others (other races, other cultures, religions, etc... they don't have to be BAD, just different)... and they want a vicious, relentless reaction whenever the same violence is directed at them. I think what they hated the most about Obama is that even though he used military force on a regular basis, he was always rational and never used charged language, didn't make threats to destroy entire cultures or crush America's enemies. They saw his intellect and well-spoken manner as weak... they want a leader who will promise blood, death and destruction for the sake of it. If Trump assaults women, if he degrades people, bullies them, etc.... it doesn't matter, because they LIKE that. Or at least, they are willing to overlook it so long as Trump continues to promote senseless, stupid action over insightful discussion, caution or desire to understand complexity. Even though fascism is a dirty word, fascism itself isn't objectionable to a lot of people, mostly because they never embraced the whole western liberal democracy thing or America's lead role in globalization. They see fascism as Nazis saluting Hitler in unison, everyone disciplined and collectivized... not a lecherous billionaire who behaves like a spoiled child. They think they can't be fascist because they're American and America is objectively good. And maybe fascist isn't even the right word... maybe it's something else that is just as bad or potentially worse. They want to see America flexing its muscle and pushing people around like a schoolyard bully, not trying to bring everyone together like a civilized human being. They're sick of talk, they think the answers are simple, they want something to happen, and they think they have nothing to lose.
