A US government watchdog has launched an investigation into actions taken by the FBI during the election campaign.

FBI director James Comey's decision to reopen an investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server 11 days before the election shook up the race.

The Department of Justice (DoJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz said he would look into "certain actions" by the FBI and DoJ.

Mrs Clinton was cleared of any wrongdoing days before the US voted.

Her campaign team has blamed the FBI announcement as a key factor why she lost the election to Donald Trump.

The story I read indicated that this investigation was at the requeest of Democrats.

I don't see the world through left/right glasses, Ken. That's just Kool-Aid widely consumed.

My point is we've got the prez-elect here, intel there, FBI over here, Congress over there . . . we're all fighting each other, even in the same government.

So you're wondering if somebody elsewhere might be encouraging the internal bickering? Seems a reasonable worry as stirring up trouble between the regional leaders was one of the methods the Empire used to keep Afghanistan and China under something resembling control during the Victorian era, and has also been used by a couple of Presidents during the '70s and '80s. It's not like there aren't any foreign nations that would benefit from having the 'States forced into isolationism by a pissing match between its president and a couple of factions in the Congress.

Fair enough. I just wondered if you were taking the situation with there being an alleged Russian influence on last year's election as something that's been done purely to harm the US government rather than Putin actually expecting to get anything in the way of concessions or support from his orange bitch. Doesn't seem less likely than Putin expecting the guy to deliver on a promise, after all.

The mention of warlords brought that to mind as "let's you and him fight" was one of the main methods that was used by Empress Vicky's representatives in countries that were run by warlords back in the day. Ensuring that none of the warring factions was to reach a position where they might be able to unify their country was a lot more important than any of that hearts and minds stuff back then. I wonder if Putin has read any Disreali or Kipling?
Still, if you want to treat that as a separate issue and just mentioned warlords as a metaphor, that's fair enough. These pissing matches in the second and third houses certainly go back further than Putin's ascent to his current Tsar-like stance in Russia's goverment, after all.
