ORIGINAL: Musicmystery That's not part of the ACA. Sure, it's flawed, but you're conflating Michael's choice with ACA policy, and it's not synonymous. That statement is almost offensive, when you really think about this: quote:

Under ObummerCare, I could have had (worse) coverage for only $9,000 per year with a $15,000 deductible. Bargain! Michael I guess, technically, it was a "choice", but the fact that I "chose" not to spend $9,000 a year for the "privilege" of paying $15,000 per year before my "coverage" would cover me is NOT a "choice", when one gets right down to the brass tacks. quote:

They asked about what he owns so that he can lose it anyway, just for the deductible. That's an assumption. I'd like to see evidence of it working that way. And, he doesn't have to choose a plan with a high deductible (though it would cost more, granted). Perhaps he's brilliant and cleverly dodged a bullet. So he's paying $10,000 a year instead of paying a $10,000 deductible if he ends up needing it. Doesn't appear he's ahead now. I'm a little confused and I'm not trying to put too fine a point on it or be a smart ass, but why would choosing a higher deductible cost more ? I'm guessing you meant: "less"? Either way, I had no "choice". That's what the insurance company offered me (out of the kindness of their heart and being allowed to by Obummercare). The "lowest" plan available to me. Secondly, I have known people on government assistance who had to list their assets and, in one case, a guy was told that in order to get necessary dental procedures, he would have to liquidate them, first (to pay as much for the procedure as he could). He wound up, losing his car, motorcycle, and bicycle (selling all three, fire-sale style since he was in dire need of the procedure, netted him $10,500 of the needed $18,000). So, yes, his life was saved, but he had no way to get to his job (which he, eventually lost) so, he had no way to pay his rent. So, he had no place to live, indoors. A couple of other cases, people lost fewer assets, but isn't the point of insurance to protect your assets? I know one of Ol' Dumbo Ears' arguments for "health care reform" was that people were losing their homes, when tragedy struck. Plus que ça change, plus que c’est le même chose. Yeah, choices are all around under ObummerCare. The problem is: it's like the choice to die by the bullet (that you reckon I dodged) or get hit by a train. Fuck ObummerCare. I'd say: "Fuck Obummer", but he did what he promised to do. He fucked up this country in fundamental ways. May he die a painful death, when his time comes. Michael
