I have always wondered.

Euthanesia is always such a controversial thing. Because it is legalized suicide.

Okay I am not sure if suicide is illegal in other countries, but it definitely is in mine.

But I feel that the world legitly will be a much better place, if they allowed all the people who wanna die, to choose to die painlessly voluntarily. And it is government sponsored.

My theory is. The people who wanna die, wanna die. Let them die. After they all go.

All is left in the world, are all the people who wants to live.

People who wants to live, treasure their life and will want to make the world a better place.

If you had a entire world, only filled with such people, and allow those who don't find life meaningful go in peace.

I bet we would see huge changes for the better over all for everyone.

I know some side effects might be family might be gutted IF they got a family member for example who chooses to die, and they can't stop the process from happening, because it is free choice of that person himself.

But there will be a whole new change to this too. I have a feeling, when you start living in a world, where someone you love can legally choose to die when they want to die.

People will start treasuring each other more and basically watching out for signs and just caring and watching out for each other more. Because of this possibility, everything will change.

Even relationships, which I believe will again, be for the better.

I can't see a negative in this!

What is the negative?

If you cant see the negatives Greta you need to do some research
because it sounds like you dont understand why its controversial in the slightest.
And whats worse you are minimizing it with your lack of understanding.
Oh, and Im in favour of assisted dying for terminally ill people and their choice. to end their own suffering...

A rather good science fiction film from the '70s. Legalised euthanasia is encouraged as a solution to the population crisis in that, meaning that a lot of pressure is put on the unproductive to quietly go and kill themselves off.

(Isn't suicide a terrible sin in buddhist terms, btw?)

As I recall, at a certain age, the elderly were mandated to trot off to the processing plant to be rendered into the communal food . . . soylant green.

You presume wrongly that brotherly love is a stronger incentive to do good than greed and the quest for power are motivators to do evil.

Don't forget in buddhism, you will get punished for every single sin. There is no cleansing of the sin. Everyone has to pay for their sins in hell and face up to every punishment. So suicide is probably just one of the sins you will be punished for.

But the movie you mentioned, I haven't watched it, but I read up wikipedia quick summary on it. It is not a fair representation.

First of all, there is alot of people living in poverty or poorer conditions, that are actually more positive and happy and treasure and love life, compared to many wealthier people.

So I don't think the soylent green is realistic, where they are showing a world where food is scarce and lots of human suffering, and as it's fiction, they assume everyone will choose suicide in dire situations. In reality, with any poverty ridden communities, that is not true, they somehow have even more hope than middle class people.

Even the movie recently, "Me Before You", showed a disabled person, who really lose the use of his hands and legs, and everything. Only his brain and his mouth and ears working. In that movie, he chose to commit suicide despite finding love.

And it created an outrage among disabled people, because they feel that movie does not accurately portray the positivity disabled people do feel towards life. And many wouldn't have chosen assisted suicide.

I feel that alot of people will choose life WHEN they actually have a choice of when to die.

It is actually not gonna be a disaster but will bring the whole world to become better.

I think end of the day. When we are all born into the this world, we weren't given a choice or asked if we wanted to have that life.

It actually is only fair that when we reach adults, we get to make the decision IF we wish to continue with life by choice.

Making it illegal to me as a default I assume in many countries, is like the number 1 taking away your free will to live or die.

And the last benefit of this. When assisted suicide is legal for all. You get to spot 100% rate of suicide victims.

Obviously they should agree to a certain length of time of counselling, before they are allowed to decide they still want to go.

This would actually reduce suicide. People who are suicidal will sign up for assisted suicide and get a chance to be helped. Knowing that, if they go through with the program, and if they still want to go, they can go in peace. So they will do it.

The Republican health care plan.

Republican is too Christian to sponsor euthanasia, since from a religious point of view, your life belongs to God, so only he can take it away.

But from a non-religious point of view. Our life is our own to choose what to do with it. Doesn't make sense to criminalize suicide or make assisted suicide inaccessible for all.

Yep. It was obviously compulsory but was constantly talked about like people had a choice in the matter.
(That was in the novel, but Harry Harrison was apparently furious about the "Soylent Green is people!" stuff at the end.)

"Republican is too Christian to sponsor euthanasia, since from a religious point of view, your life belongs to God, so only he can take it away. "

My life belongs to me and I will quit when I damn well please. Actually to tell the truth I am getting there. the eyesight and hearing, coordination gone, strength and stamina all gone. As far as god goes, fuck him if he exists. He does not.

Republicans though might have death panels, when to stop treatment. I am considering a "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" card. However, I actually doubt the death panels are going to be just that. It is going to be more like - why give this 98 year old Man with lung cancer a hip replacement ?

And BTW, republicans are not Christian in any sense of the word.

Yea but you know what I mean. It's like the party of Christian values, trying to mix some Christian values into politics.

Thus their pro-life stances. If they are anti-abortion, they will most certainly be anti-euthanasia.

We already have government sponsoring eugenics. They give either a half a million or a half a billion every year to Sanger's Planned Parenthood to "assist the race toward the elimination of the unfit."

Yeah, she was into eugenics. I guess that explains why most PP clinics are in the poorer neighborhoods? It's a sin that our government uses tax dollars to support them.

How come I get to chose what??? Assisted Dying?
You may prefer futuramas way of suicide, but we are dealing with fucking reality.
PS
The Liberal government's much debated and often criticized assisted dying bill is now law.

The bill received royal assent Friday afternoon after passing a final vote in the Senate earlier in the day. The bill was voted through after a final bid by senators failed to expand the scope of who qualifies for a doctor-assisted death.

Senator Peter Harder, the government's representative in the Senate, put forward the motion that the Senate should approve the amended bill and "accept the message passed by the House of Commons."

It was approved with a vote of 44-28. After news of the vote in the Senate, the House of Commons adjourned for the summer break.

The Senate had passed an amendment to include those who aren't necessarily near death, but the House of Commons rejected it Thursday.

In the end, senators yielded to the more restrictive bill.

"Appreciate principled [and] thoughtful debate in both houses," tweeted Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould soon after.

"Transformative day for Canadian social policy," added Health Minister Jane Philpott.

You are smarter than this. To pretend today's Planned Parenthood is about eugenics is flatly dishonest.

I expected better from you.

Fake news at its best.
