How many here are Pagan? I've noticed that there are more atheist BDSM practitioners than those under a Pagan label. Just trying to meet some like minded Pagans who also are involved in BDSM.

How does BDSM affect your religion? How does your religion affect how you practice BDSM?

Hi, Kitsune.
I think you might be better off posting in the general BDSM forum for this, rather than in here? Most of the content about religion herein boils down to "the Nazis never gassed six million jews! Liar!", "Obama is too a moslem! Liar!" or "The founding fathers didn't want anybody who isn't Protestant in the country!"

(For what it's worth though, I have noticed an awful lot of Catholics have an enthusiasm for BDSM. Something to do with all those stories about martyrs firing up the imagination, perhaps...)

While I think it's a misnomer, many of my Pagan friends that know me well tell me my beliefs line up very well with Paganism.

I understand the history to some degree. I identify as and try to practice as a Gnostic Christian. Early on in the Christian beginnings, there were a lot of over-lapping beliefs, especially when one considers the origins of the word: "Paganism".

Funny enough, I was raised in a big city and am glad I grew up that way and had those experiences to prepare me for life, but the more time I spend here in exile, the more I find myself enjoying "country livin'".

So, call me "Pagan" on two counts, if you must.

Michael

We are Pagan.
And nothing kinky/BDSM affects our Pagan way of life or vice-versa.

I've been a practicing Wiccan for a couple of decades; and, I have been in exploring/practicing/living BDSM for a bit longer.

I never thought about a correlation between the two. In my mind my own religion/spirituality has nothing to do with my BDSM cravings. (Although, thinking about it now, I bet it is stresful to have to remember every "sin" to ask for forgiveness later; a single session would be a whole day of "forgive me father"; so, yay Paganism!!!

Seriously though, except for a few play sessions with a couple of different women who identify as Pagan (both of which requested heavy roleplay involving various aspects of a "religious" nature) the two worlds have never collided in my own experience.

(Oh yeah, I did run into a catholic girl once who wanted to be "flogged for her sins"; which I happily obliged.)

But, overall, religion hasn't entered into BDSM for me.

I think there's an inherent maleness and femaleness, and that when we're in harmony with that, we have vibrant, healthy relationships.
