I find this new term media loves throwing out these day kinda stupid.

Definition:
Any political doctrine chosen to appeal to a majority of the electorate

Based on that, any beliefs could be popularism of the moment and considering majority seem to hate Trump at the moment, how is he pushing for Popularism?

I have to admit that until about eight years ago, I was confused as to whether or not I was for or against the EC. I frequently wondered why with all our technology, we couldn't just count the votes and go from there.

For quite some time (since my early teens), I marveled at the incredible wisdom of our founding fathers, setting up the house of representatives and senate the way they did in order to ensure that our society didn't devolve into "mob rule".

The more I read from the founding fathers, the more I realized that almost none of them wanted us to have a democracy. In fact, quite a few were vehemently opposed to one and warned us about such a form of government.

All of that to the side, I find it a bit hilarious that the same people, here who warned us about "nationalism" and "popularism" and any other kind of "ism" seem to be (by-and-large) the same people that started wailing and gnashing their teeth about the EC, starting on 09 NOV.

Hypocrisy? Duplicity? Stupidity? I think, even if we give them the benefit of the doubt and portray it in the best possible light, it's certainly inconsistency, bordering on intellectual dishonesty.

Well, the founding fathers were career politicans, so they wanted the power kept in their class. If one reads the available commentaries, they seem hyperbolically naive.

Shouldn't that be "populism", or is this another neologism the alternative media has spawned?

Whatever you want to call it, there's a bit more to populism as a political (or cultural) argument than something merely being popular. The most common objection to populism is that it's talking down its perceived audience and treating them as though they're stupid. As a result, it's actively opposed to education and the spread of information: another term for populism is "dumbing down". Certainly the shift from discussing issues to personality politics is a populist approach.
(If you've ever wondered why the American right is so fond of dismissing anybody who has a clue what they're talking about as an elitist, that's a manifestation of populism as well.)

its all fake dood, all of it, everything.....up is down, russias good, giving cash grabs to people who have millions and want more but dont know what their jobs entail, its amazing.

As far as Russia goes, have any of our resident populists explained why the ferret-headed shitgibbon phoning up Putin on an unsecured mobile to announce that he'd won the presidency* was less of a security risk than Hilary Clinton's leaky server? They've had a couple of months to contrive an excuse for that one, but I must have missed it if any of the trumptooners showed their working for that one.
Of course, showing one's working is an unpleasant elitist requirement that alienates the common folk who vote for the right, isn't it?

*(And the guy in Taiwan as well. Kim Jong Un was mentioned as well, but I don't think that's been confirmed.)
