I totally agree and I don't think the fact the some assholes have done it in the past is an excuse to do it now.

Bottom line right there.

Underage political kids. OFF LIMITS

Adults (especially those who hook up with reality shows or go on speaking tours for profit) Fair fucking game.

Disagree. If Chelsea Clinton, Trig Palin and Sasha Obama were considered acceptable targets, I don't see why el presidente's youngest should be off limits.

Chelsea, Trig and Sasha were ALL not acceptable targets.

All children should be off limits.

I was so disgusted when Palin Children got so much crap from Libs. And poor Palin got even crap for getting pregnant so late in life, blaming her for her youngest child down syndrome. Those are precisely the things that should be off limits.

I think my question implies answering beyond a simple yes or no. and im less concerned about trump, who is temporary, and more concerned with questions that are more universal and timeless, like this one.

I don't see how one can answer fully without addressing the question of, what's the purpose of comedy?

and if something or someone is "off limits" why is it so?

First, it's a simple yes or no (which you got).

Then, you don't see how one can answer fully without addressing the purpose of comedy.

Which is it?

And which definition of comedy? Comedy is the art form that examines the universal shortcomings of humanity, and as such, may or may not be funny (it can be bitter, or just insightful).

Or, in the modern casual sense, meaning simply funny.

my original question was meant to illicit more than a yes or no, though I appear to have failed in its design.

nevertheless, when you say "examines universal shortcomings of humanity..." is the purpose (or at least one of the purposes) of comedy, then how do we get from there, to "yes but X is off-limits to that purpose?"

But since it was generally agreed by everyone that they should be off limits, but of course since anyone thought that any of them weren't you think that gives you a blank check.

I am dealing with true idiots - so be it I will treat you all as such as you sit and moleste your golliwogs

You're talking out of your arse again. If it was "generally agreed by everyone" that they were off limits, they wouldn't have been mocked so nastily, would they?

I don't think we do. Character comes from within. Outwardly, the 1st Amendment protects even assholes.

I think kids...especially one who's not even a teen yet...should be off-limits. They didn't choose the political stage, their parents did.

Agree? Disagree? Why?

They get good press and bad press.. I saw tons of stories on how "cute" Barron was playing peek-a-boo with Ivankas kid while Trump was signing.. and bad press/comments when its not called for backfires badly, like it has here.. its not like Barron has stolen someone's copyrighted shoe design (like his big sister Ivanka has), in which case bad press (& a boycott) is warranted.. You dont think Trump & his various wives havent taught their kids right from the time the were in diapers that anything the kids do can end up on front page of the local/national paper? Kids arent stupid, they can read/hear all the (dumb, embarassing) shite their parents are doing too (like Trumps affair with Marla, his pussy grabbing comments, etc).. so they know they are "on display" too... they know to smile for the camera..

Making an observation that a ten-year old kid would be "the first homeschool" shooter is not 'bad press', it is a bullshit observation by an adult trying to be funny at the expense of a kid who has absolutely no way of fighting back. Even her employers recognized that.

You are another one that doesnt read what people write.. I said bad press/comments and i said they were not called for.. and that it backfired badly.. and its not an "observation" at all as the kid isnt homeschooled and never will be and he is too rich to risk being a shooter.. the comment was totally bizarre..
