There's this thing called birth control that women can take so they won't get pregnant.

THEY should practice safe sex, which may include birth control medications and condoms and other prophylactics. It's not just a woman's duty to prevent herself from becoming pregnant. Granted, being on BC can help prevent pregnancies from non-consensual sex.

I disagree. It's a woman's 'duty' to herself to not get pregnant if she doesn't want to.

Just as much as it's a man's responsibility to not allow pregnancy if he doesn't wish to responsible for a life.

It's a woman's duty to herself to make sure risks are minimized, if she doesn't want to get pregnant.

It's a man's duty to himself to make sure risks are minimized of he doesn't want to get a woman pregnant.

Thus, it's their duty to themselves (and each other) to take necessary precautions if they don't want to get pregnant.

If one wants to get pregnant, but the other doesn't, the two shouldn't be having sex, until that gets worked out.

Still, the only way for a man or woman to guarantee she doesn't get pregnant, is to either not engage in sexual activities, or to take procedures so one or both are effectively sterile.

It's not just up to a woman. It's up to both.

Why do you think that birth control pills are 100% effective?

Yet, as every party to the abortion debate should know, those methods of contraception that are truly safe are not absolutely reliable no matter how reliably they are used. Many women, like myself, have felt free to choose the safest methods because legal abortion is available as a backup to contraception. Anyone who finds that a thoughtless, immoral choice should speak to the orphans of women whose wombs were perforated by Dalkon shields or whose strokes were brought on by high-estrogen birth-control pills.

Do you think human life has no value?

Outside of calls for ignoring, or repealing Roe v. Wade, the biggest debate regarding abortion is in government paying for it or not. Personally, I am against abortion, but I'm in full support of others making choices for themselves. I'm also in favor of people taking care of their own business and not relying on government to pay for their choices. Thus, I don't want to pay for a woman's abortion, unless I'm personally involved in making that baby. You (general) can choose to have an abortion, but you (general) shouldn't be able to choose for someone else to pay for it.

I wonder why all the voices crying "Hey, you lost the election, don't be sore losers" don't think "Well, we lost Roe v. Wade, so we need to move on."

It's probably the value of innocent human life thing that they just can't let go of.

My sense is that funding debates are secondary to the numerous and varied efforts to impose regulations that make it much harder for a woman to obtain an abortion.
