I wrote that govts. around the world may very well likely tell Trump...don't bother to come visit us. Well.....?

Just before Mr. Trump fired off his Twitter post, the Mexican foreign minister and Mr. Trump’s Homeland Security secretary, John F. Kelly, were preparing to see each other for a scheduled 11:30 a.m. meeting.

According to a senior American official, the secretary had been briefed. The appropriate flags had been arranged by the protocol staff at the Department of Homeland Security. Then, just as American officials greeted the minister outside the department’s headquarters in Northwest Washington, the minister received word from Mexico that he was being pulled back, the official said. The meeting never happened.

Historians said that not since President Calvin Coolidge threatened to invade a “Soviet Mexico” had the United States so deeply antagonized the Mexican populace.

“It is an unprecedented moment for the bilateral relationship,” said Genaro Lozano, a professor at the Iberoamerican University in Mexico City. “In the 19th century, we fought a war with the U.S.; now we find ourselves in a low-intensity war, a commercial one over Nafta and an immigration war due to the measures he just announced.”

I really hope that more countries tell him to fuck off in the same way Mexico just did.
Bullies deserve ostracism.

Then he will be impeached and the nightmare will be over.

And yes, I would consider President Pence a massive improvement.

Oh, the horror! Does this mean they're going to quit invading us too? And stop taking our factories?

Whatever shall we do.

Nope, just means that they're not going to pay for no stinking wall.

Actually they want to pay to put one on their southern border.

I am long past caring about the opinions of foreign governments concerned with how we should run our country.

I'm also long past caring about people that criminally enter our country. It is, indeed, an invasion. I would just shoot the fuckers, as they cross because in a lot of cases, it's an armed invasion (the "guides" that bring people across are frequently armed).

Here's where I think President Trump isn't being strong enough:

I am a musician. I play guitar. Made In Mexico (MIM) Fender guitars are well made instruments. There are some quality luthiers, employed by Fender in Mexico.

Recently (less than a year ago), I bought a MIM Fender Precision Bass. Again; this is a quality instrument. Since it is a "signature model", there is no comparable American made model (kind of why I was "forced" to buy the MIM).

There are some that are very similar, obviously. As an example: American bass.

That's a difference of $500. President Trump's "import tax" isn't going to be enough to dissuade (some) people from buying the MIM version. I have to admit, a difference of $150 would have me buying the American made, but what's to say that Fender doesn't drop the price of the MIMs so that they still come in at about $1,200 and RAISE the price the Americans so that they closer to $2,000?

I think an "import tax" needs to be closer to 50%.

Just my 2¢

Most immigrants get here by overstaying their visas.

Hard to shoot them as they cross.

A sanction on a country that provides a large chunk of your manufacturing capacity. It isn't just guitars, as your car manufacturers are having components assembled in mexico and just using the American plants to assemble the bits that the greasers make for them. I think the same thing's happening with most white goods that aren't just manufactured in China, India or south east Asia and imported as well.

It's really bad luck to try that in many countries. We should be more like them.

Oh right the Mexican government forced the American corporations to move their factories to Mexico. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that businesses exist to make money, it's all about Mexico stealing from the US. And the illegal immigration has nothing to do with supply and demand either... it's a plot to make America part of Mexico.

Even a stopped clock eh. You actually stumbled over something substantive there

You've never heard of La Raza (The Racists) then. Their goal is exactly that, they call it "Reconquista", and Obama anointed a racist La Raza member to the Supreme Court - Sonia Sotomayor. She refers to herself as a "wise Latina" because like Obama she has a very high opinion of herself

And that's exactly what they are doing, invading with plans to outnumber us then use our democracy against us to defeat us in a way their military never could

Let's be very clear, here - you and I: I have no issue with immigrants. I have an issue with illegal immigrants.

That said, I think you'll find that most illegals actually cross the physical borders because they can't afford plane fare. I guess I could be wrong, but your own thread claims that 40% come by air. That leaves 60% coming some other way. I'm guessing boats figure in, but I'd be willing to bet that the majority still cross on land.

When they go wading, they're invading.

I need to "correct" one thing and then, I'll build on it.

La Raza DOES NOT translate as you say. It does translate to "The Race". Also, they are a racist organization as they constantly advocate for hispanic superiority.

I am not aware of Sotomayor's background with La Raza, but if there is any, she might be a racist. I don't know if I buy into the "infiltration" theory you're espousing, but it doesn't seem completely out of the realm of possibility. Certainly, they are literally draining our economy.

As far as American corporations moving to Mexico: no one put a gun to their heads, literally, but let's look at the tax burden and the regulatory mess that Ol' Dumbo Ears put on the American economy.

It's a shit-show and he did bupkis to really build a healthy economy. In fact, in a lot of ways, he screwed the growth of our economy, but he did promise to fundamentally change our country.

Just reducing the corporate tax rate from the highest in the world to a par with the rest of the world will mean that American companies can stay here and still compete .
