White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer exploited the attack to justify President Trump’s ban on immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries. “It’s a terrible reminder of why we must remain vigilant and why the President is taking steps to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to our nation’s safety and security,” Spicer said at this afternoon’s briefing when speaking of the Quebec City attack.

But these assertions are utterly false. The suspect is neither Moroccan nor Muslim. The Moroccan individual, Mohamed el Khadir, was actually one of the worshippers at the mosque and called 911 to summon the police, and played no role whatsoever in the shooting.

The actual shooting suspect is 27-year-old Alexandre Bissonnette, a white French Canadian who is, by all appearances, a rabid anti-immigrant nationalist. A leader of a local immigration rights groups, François Deschamps, told a local paper he recognized his photo as an anti-immigrant far-right “troll” who has been hostile to the group online. And Bisonnette’s Facebook page – now taken down but still archived – lists among its “likes” the far right French nationalist Marine Le Pen, Islam critics Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, the Israeli Defense Forces, and Donald J. Trump (he also “likes” the liberal Canadian Party NDP along with more neutral “likes” such as Tom Hanks, the Sopranos and Katy Perry).


Have either Faux News or Spicer retracted their earlier statements yet?

Have either Faux News or Spicer retracted their earlier statements yet?

I'm glad you're having fun, but it was the police, as reported by the Associated Press, that initially named Mohamed el Khadir as a suspect. And Fox has already updated their reporting at the link you provided, which you would know if you bothered to read the links you post. As for the part of the story about witnesses saying the man shouted "Allahu Akbar," that came from the CBC:

Last night, shortly after the shooting, a witness who asked to remain anonymous told Radio-Canada that two masked individuals entered the mosque. "It seemed to me that they had a Québécois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot, they yelled, 'Allahu akbar!' The bullets hit people that were praying. People who were praying lost their lives. A bullet passed right over my head. ~CBC News

In related news, President Trump expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian people, offering any assistance that the U.S. might be able to provide.

There were at least 257 reported attacks on the Muslim community last year. Since Nov. 8, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said at least 100 attacks against Muslims have been reported, a show of violence only comparable to hate crime statistics directly after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

But of course Trumps followers are as pure as the driven snow (flakes).

IF they had a government who assure all the people that they are aware of the problem, acknowledge the problem, and that they will fix the Muslim problem, have a clear plan lay out, and tell everyone to let the government handle it and do not take things into your own hands.

Nobody would take it into their own hands to handle Muslims.

Like my own country.

When people see the government as protecting an evil ideology like Islam. I won't be surprised some people will act on their own if they feel there will never be justice done by the government.

So I won't be Surprise that in Trump America, people will stop attempting to kill Muslims on their own. Whereas in a country like Canada where the PM is Muslim loving. More people will take matters into their own hands.

Hard Truth.

The Fact is, Islam is a terrible ideology. And I know there are many such as myself who are in utter disbelief why Liberals who support gay and lesbian rights and woman's rights, keep pushing for Islam and supporting and defending that ideology. Which is against all the rights accorded to minorities.

I don't feel that injustice in my own country. My government always acknowledge the realities and don't pretend they don't pose any problems. And they speak openly about it, addressing it. But just reading about what Liberal politicians in western world talk about when it comes to the defense of Islam, it's so disgusting and it sickens me. Seriously, to me, this is one of the most fucked up twilight zone thing that happening in this world today.

I hope Justin walks the talk though and accept all the Muslims escaping persecution from their own country caused by their own religion! Open doors in Canada to all Muslims. Good for Canada.

So now all the deported Muslims can simply be sent to Canada then. It's easy, it's just next door.

Why does US need to accept them anymore since Canada offered to take them all.

Trump's win was a victory for fascists and white supremacists everywhere. His platform borrows heavily from European neo-fascist movements, mostly due to Bannon and the whole 'alt-right' thing. Pretty much everyone in Europe recognized where Trump was coming from right away... and as much as Canada denies it, it is heavily influenced by the US and has always had that 'little brother' thing going on. Canadians are just as stirred up over Trump's win as the Americans.

It's pretty hard to imagine that a white supremacist in a province with a strong sense of its own cultural identity wouldn't have felt like it's time to reclaim the new world.

Curious how not even a single case of actual violence was listed

I have seen video of Trump supporters attacked and a lot of news generated about that. Campaign headquarters burned, Republicans forced to forego their right to speak and to assemble because of leftist violence

A lot of that

I have also seen several reported acts of violence etc against blacks or Muslims by supposed Trump supporters debunked, with alt left radicals charged for filing false reports

I have even posted some of the stories here

Can you link to even a single violent act against Muslims here in the US, that was confirmed to have been committed by a non-Muslim?

I went to a christmas play at my son in laws school where he teaches special needs(autistic spectrum) and ESL to five to 8 yr olds. We met several new refugee families from syria.
They took part in the plays/songs and dancing, sat around with us for food, some of it syrian (it was a pot luck) it was bloody incredible. They were wary, but friendly, shy full of life...

Of course we have ignorant bigot pigs in canada, anyone stating otherwise is a twat.

End of the day! Trump should send all his banned Muslims to Canada. Problem solved.

I think Trump is doing great to encourage other Nations to start chipping in their fair share.
