I don't think many elements of the Republican Party are conservative, but we're stuck with the term. I'd prefer fox new idiots or Mnot might have a better designation.

Anyway, this article hits the spot in spades and it offers a super-structure of most CMMB political discussions.

conservatives are greedy, racist, evil, homophobic, selfish, xenophobic, sexist, misogynistic, haters of the poor, the elderly, bigoted, islamophobic, fascist, yada yada yada ad nauseum?

or that conservatives actually do care but do so in a way that you %(#&%^&# liberals in your pompous ass elite self-righteousness just don't agree with or even recognize?

The point is that you cannot get anywhere with clowns who argue in bad faith. To wit: Obama was "bad" because he was always on vacation burning tax payer dollars to protect him.

Trump's vacation and family protection bills promise to be about half a billion dollars for four years -- whereas Obama travel costs were about $90 million for eight years.

Why aren't conservatives mad and railing about this? They are silent because they like Trump.

Why were they railing against Obama about it -- they didn't like him.

Vacations and travel costs are besides the point -- they are bullshit claims as the author points out.

If these claims were real -- we'd be hearing about them on Fox News right now.

I think your link is basically correct but about almost all repubs they being narrow minded, self-interested politicians but not necessarily conservatives.

I still hold out that one day the republican party will return to their original conservative roots and yes, that becomes more and more improbable everyday and not likely to happen in my lifetime...see presidential election.

But there are real conservatives in this country (yes, democrat and independent too) that are cringing in their beer and even some (National Review) who think that Trump is and if the repubs in congress continue to kiss his butt, are or will, become a national disaster for the repub party and its future.

You didn't even read the full title of the article.

He's not saying conservatives don't care about anything, just that they don't care about their own hypocrisy.

You aren't going to say that you care about your own hypocrisy, you're either going to say it doesn't exist or that liberals are worse. You are unwilling to confront the possibility that you could be a hypocrite.

Putin has been positioning himself as the head of a new global 'conservative' movement for a while now. The alt-right is a useful tool for furthering that movement in the same way the new European fascists are... the alt-right has been idolizing and adoring him for years now... or at least, the armies of internet trolls who work for Putin have been putting that message forward.

The simple fact is that the right doesn't care about the west or its values, they only care about whether or not their party wins. It's the only way to explain how they could support someone like Mitt Romney in 2012 and then 4 years later support someone like Trump. They have no real values or beliefs, they just have their team and it is always right about everything. Trump says something completely insane, and it's perfectly acceptable because he's their leader.

If colluding with a dictator is totally acceptable, if refusing to investigate the connection is acceptable, if it is acceptable that the president is unwilling to stand up to Russia in any way or admit that there is anything wrong with a warship off the coast of Delaware or a cruise missile violating a 1987 treaty, then I can't imagine what wouldn't be. They are lost.

The only real hope is that the people who aren't blindly partisan and who simply think that Trump is 'good different' will realize they've made a mistake sooner rather than later.

What I GOT is very few conservatives DIDNT vote for the current administration no matter how much u were warned by economists worldwide of the consequences for doing so.  They voted for rump with all his bad treatments of women & minorities, and did so knowing full damn well the American people are going to bear the insane cost of the symbolic wall that's he's backtracked on how many times since November that Mexico WAS & IS never going to out-of-pocket pay for??   hell y'all cant even figure out what ur going to actually "replace" Obamacare with because all u really cared about was wiping out its authors legacy.

NO..... u and whatever variations of cons voted rump in because  u cared more about winning the white house than anything or anybody else.  All because u knew the orange stumblebum is going to rubber stamp the rest of the gop agenda.

And THAT is ALL u and whatever variations of cons there are, cared about.  with hypocrisy leading the way.  

Let's see what u didn't get WHEN the business papers start mentioning the growing recession for their slow sales figures and the economists nodding a "we told u so" after giving president orange stumblebum a second term.
