Yes the draft was unpopular, as was the war in Vietnam, and for all intents and purposes, the US should have stayed out of it.

If you agree that it was wrong of us to be there why would you expect any honest amerikian to support it.

But, considering how many men were drafted and went, even if they did not agree with the war, giving amnesty to the shit heads that dodged the draft was an insult to those who played the hand they were dealt and did not come back.

Just because you were drafted did not mean you were going infantry or into a combat unit.

And nobody is more valuable and thus better than some other poor bastard that went.

Hell, I would support the reinstatement of the draft now, with one major change, no exceptions for anyone unless they are physically or mentally unable to serve.


I got a better idea...no one can be in the infantry unless they make more than a million dollars a year and are over 40.
