ORIGINAL: BoscoX Photos of naked Marines (no one complained) No one complained because the guys in your photos consented to going public. I'll admit that the ladies were naive in sending their photos to guy marines but posting them on FB with names, ranks, and duty sites without consent raises issues with the whole esprit de corps and unselfish protection of fellow marines mantras. Another problem is that the Commandant, or his underlings, have known about this for four years and failed to discipline the guys or protect the ladies. Why shouldn't the Commandant step down? The problem starts with the women and THAT should be addressed too. We infantalize women and don't treat them as being as culpable for their actions the same way we do men. It's sexist to women and discriminatory to men. If you've ever served, you know what I mean. If you share nude photos of yourself with someone who isn't your spouse, you're a moron and you're part of the problem. And sorry, you can't "steal" photos from Instagram. If you don't want people sharing provocative photos of you, don't put them on social media. I hope none of the Female Marines that sent their nude photos over the internet want a security clearance at any time in their military career. I am pretty sure sending pictures that can be used to blackmail you is a disqualifier. And then there is Article 134 - "all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces" Did the men do wrong things? Yes. Did the women do wrong things? Yes. Or as I like to say, "You want more SHARPS training? Because this is how you get more SHARPS training." Soooo . . . to the women: Thanks for volunteering to serve your country, bitches???????? No. To the women - make stupid choices, win stupid prizes. Unless you are in the camp that says, "Women are no more responsible for their choices than children are." This does not defend the men. But it does hold them accountable for their part in the debacle. If you get drunk at a bar, pass out, and someone steals your wallet, aren't you at least a little culpable? Treat women as equals and acknowledge their part in this. Women are supposed to be a smart as men, as able as men, as competent as men in the realm of decision making.
