Hrm... well Jen was already taken... imagine that... I have come from a M/s tradition where a slave owns nothing, not even her name, and is commonly referred to, simply as 'girl'. Sometimes, an owner will rename his slave, sometimes not... at any rate. So.. having studied a few languages and being rather boringly classical in most things, I opted on Latin, due to my background. I also like the word puella for its other, older meaning. The original word for girl in Latin was puera, or the feminine of the word for boy, puer. The word puella also referred a period in a young roman woman's life when she was considered to most embody the feminine, when she was the 'ripest, and most desirable to a man as a woman and companion, between puberty and the birth of her first child. At the time I chose this word for my moniker, that seemed a bit more appropriate than it does, perhaps, now. Well, enough of the etymology lesson... I have enjoyed reading everyones history of their name.
