That's actually the point right there -- the media's interpretation vs. what the polls actually showed giving the statistical margin of error.

All kinds of crazy predictive models were drawn based on nothing but a poor understanding of statistics, then reported as fact.

In the article it says that the problem was that the media drew on opinion polling more than conversation polling. It has nothing to do with the interpretation of the data, it's about the nature of the data. That's why a polling company that has nothing to do with politics was able to 'predict' the outcome.

Sort of like how BoscoX says he's not a fascist then turns around and supports fascist policies. If you took him at his word, you wouldn't be able to figure out who he really is. But if you look at the threads he posts and the things he says in exchanges, you will see the truth.

Our conversation data also raise a different, but fundamental, question about the predictive power of public opinion data in predicting behavior, at least given the unique features of a campaign that featured two unpopular candidates, non-traditional campaigning, and a late October surprise.

It seems Hillary was winning up until the very last minute. So the polls generally work well, but failed because of the specific conditions of this election.

Of course, now because of this horrible surprise, idiots like Bosco assume that it's all because Alex Jones knows more about elections than professional pollsters and the media.

I said a long, long time ago the only way that mad lying orange fuk can best bitch witch binton in an election was to simply hurl shit (fake news and more fake news). I said she would have to enage him at his own game. She did not.

the problem with polls is that to get 1000 answers it means contacting 20 000 - 19,000 will say shove it. Of that 1000 barely 50% will vote. The 50% who do not vote the majority will be democratic-labour etc

Trump had her on her knees and with the help of that letter (and very suspect timing) they kept kicking her when she was down....she wasn't really down twas merely the way the press reported it. And you will learn like I did, given enough time, the poverty of a typical American brain.

Apathy won the day truth be told.
Like it does in the UK elections and the BREXIT one...and for balance, as I never want accused of bias, i do no doubt for one second the majority of those 20% who did not vote in the first Scottish independence election the majority would have chose to stay in the UK - 12-14%.

HB did you know in Americashire jackal land that 240 million people were eligible to vote - yet only 200 million registered to vote - great democracy it is not.
