Trump's plan to help pay for the Mexico wall? Cut the Coast Guard, by 1.3 billion.

So much for homeland defense being a priority.

It's also estimated that if the 1% pay less tax, then money will trickle down and invigorate the rest of the economy. In the forty or fifty years that fuckwits have been cutting taxes because they estimate this, it hasn't happened once.
That's the nice thing about estimates: you can estimate all sorts of ridiculous nonsense, but no action can be taken if your guesses turn out to be even wronger than el presidente's taste for underaged girls.

After Katrina, the Coast Guard was the only well-functioning agency.

I wonder if you could specify all of those costs ? Medicare and Soc. Sec are both blazoned across paychecks...i.e., paid for.

I have never seen on any paycheck, a deduction for defense for the entitlement of paying $13 billion for a $9 billion aircraft carrier. OR paying $1.9 trillion for a $1.3 trillion F-35 fighter jet, over the life of its procurement, which would leave us about 10 short years away from yet another more modern and more expensive fighter jet.

Oh, I mean the cost of paying the contractor's entitlement.

I would but I got so tired of the panic of actually imagining some '2nd amend.' guy actually making it onto the white house grounds and fulfilling the T-Party/redneck/racist dreams of dragging that N.... out of the oval and shooting his black ass.

You remember right ? Back in 2008-12 when everybody was saying just like they are now...hey give the man a chance, let's all work together and get something done and didn't shut down the govt. or threaten the debt ceiling or vote down military involvement in Syria only to claim later the pres. was a pussy for not sending in more military to Syria and oh, claim he was a foreign born muslim.

Brought a tear to my eye when everybody right. left, liberal, conservative worked so well together and created 12 million jobs, cut Bush's last deficit and gas prices in 1/2 and saw the DOW triple.

I doubt we'll ever see such good times again.

Texan lawmakers don't even want it -- it will actually hurt them, economically and environmentally.

Nor does the military need any more money.

There -- I just saved us $80 billion. And we're just as secure.

COuld you link to the entitlements illegals are sucking up? apart from the cost of their incarceration, but thats not really an entitlement either.
Cutting the coast guard is pathetically short sighted.
the great lakes the coastlines, the search and rescue, the information from various ports and harbours, drug smuggling, refugees/criminals/ drugs get in other ways than over a wall, that has to be painted a pleasant colour.

Maybe the next stage after the walls along the Mexican and Canadian borders are finished will be to build a big fence along all of the coastlines?

The US has a little over 7000 miles of land borders, and over 12,000 miles of water borders.

Seems to me that Coast Guard is kinda important.

If a man had beachfront property in florida and wanted to smuggle drugs wouldn't it make sense to defund the agency that has the responsibility of interdicting those drugs???sniff sniff.
