KenDckey -> Should we arrest officials in santuary cities? (3/28/2017 6:40:43 PM)

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/03/28/sheriff-hodgson-arrest-leaders-sanctuary-cities-massachusetts-illegal-immigration/

This sheriff thinks so.

I think that they are harboring criminals which in itself is a crime. Immigration isn't a crime, but the way that you do it can make it one. It is, at least to me a black and white issue.

Nope, the states have no compunction to finance a federal unfunded mandate, and aint no ICE agents bringing warrant skips back to the cities for them.

Musicmystery -> RE: Should we arrest officials in santuary cities? (3/28/2017 6:53:15 PM)

I heard a piece where LA Police were saying it would just drive immigrants underground, shut them up when you're trying to get information about crimes, basically undermine the community trust and balance. They would no longer talk to police because they would fear every encounter as a de facto ICE raid.

Black and white issues only exist in armchair analysis. On the street, things are more complicated.

Bigots like you fill the klan.
Why is it that you only open your mouth to spew such bigoted shit?
How is it that you still believe in slavery in the 21st century?
How do you countinance such a stupid statement as this from the bigot sherriff?

"Sheriff Hodgson said there is no bigger threat to public safety than illegal immigration."

How can you be so ignorant of the subject you post on to not know that crossing the border illegally is a misdomeanor?
Why do you and this punkassmotherphoquer think that arresting misdomeanor crimes is more important than dealing with felonies?
Jesus kenny you are overdosing on stupid pills.

Are they breaking the law, Then they should arrest them.

How can you not know that people who show their disrespect for the law by coming here illegally don't become saints when they cross the border.

Works just like that with all criminals

"Don't try to arrest them - they might go underground or something"

So you do think that somehow they suddenly gain respect for the law when they cross the border.
Just making a living when they get here requires breaking more laws.

What you don't understand is that the question is not if illegals should be arrested , it is should the officials who say that they will protect illegals no matter what the law says. No matter what an illegal does they (both the official and the illegal ) are above the law.

That is the issue dumbass...Why do you want the cops to arrest those who have committed a misdomeanor instead of directing their scarce resources to arresting those who have committed a felony?
How many times have you sniveled on these boards about how the cities do not have sufficient funds to properly train a policeman, yet you now want them to work for free.

it is should the officials who say that they will protect illegals no matter what the law says.

That is not what is happening. What is happening is that immigration is not a local crime it is a federal crime and the local cops are not paid to enforce federal law. What the klan in you is saying is that you want the local cops to be slaves. You don't work for free why should the cops?

No matter what an illegal does they (both the official and the illegal ) are above the law.

Scooter libby ws obviously above the law. What sanctuary cities are doing is prioritizing their resources by not wasting time and money chasing down misdomeanors instead of addressing felonies. They are not paid to enforce federal law yet you want to bring back slavery to support your bigotry.

I think we know that because we know that the criminal corporations who hire them are allowed to flourish in criminal activity and are given a nod and a wink by the people sworn to protect that law, and congress.

bounty44 -> RE: Should we arrest officials in santuary cities? (3/29/2017 4:51:31 AM)

the discernment that needs to take place in these conversations is one between when local officials are actually participating in law breaking as opposed to refusing to be co-opted and controlled by the federal government. they can overlap, but they are also distinct things.

mnottertail -> RE: Should we arrest officials in santuary cities? (3/29/2017 4:54:50 AM)

Where is the lawbreaking? There has been no evidence of it that any of us are aware of. That has been the tacit premise of the people who are against them, but I see no evidence of cops bypassing murderers simply because they are here illegally.

Illegally crossing a Territorial Line without express permission from the government.
According to the Obama Administration - that makes them Priority 1 Illegal Immigrants.

Or in other words... they are as big a threat to the US as Terrorists, Human Traffickers, and Invading Armies...
... according to Obama.

mnottertail -> RE: Should we arrest officials in santuary cities? (3/29/2017 5:13:04 AM)

illegal aliens in this country are civil matters, hiring illegal aliens in this country is criminal, yet we have sanctuary cities for all corporations, hosted by ICE.

Termyn8or -> RE: Should we arrest officials in santuary cities? (3/29/2017 6:38:18 AM)

I think a turnabout might be appropriate here. They want to be sanctuary cities ? Send ALL the immigrants there. Wait until their population is 30 million of non-citizens and their infrastructure can't handle it. Let them build a million homeless shelters and tax their citizens for the welfare for these people who cannot legally work here.

Send them all there. Let them deal with the consequences. Consequences is how people learn. And they will. They will because these immigrants are not here as doctors and engineers on an H1B visa. They are what some shithole country emptied out of their prisons. You want them ? Let them sleep on your couch ? Have dinner with your kids ? You go right ahead, but I keep the doors locked thank you.

(actually I don't really, but you don't have to lock your doors, think, how many criminals just go around checking of doors are locked ?)
