Melenia Trump does not want to move to the white house so that their son can continue to attend the school he has been. This is all well and good, except: Taxpayers want her to pay for the cost of security for Trump Tower penthouse, and they have some compelling reasons. Trump wants to cut funding to Meals on Wheels, the primary source of healthy food for elderly shut ins. Police Commissioner James O'Neill told lawmakers in February it costs the NYPD between $127,000 and $146,000 a day to protect the first lady and her 11-year-old son Barron. Businesses near Trump Tower are paying the price for tight security for the first lady and her young son, Barron. The Secret Service and NYPD have blocked off sidewalks in front of the tower and set up barricades on surrounding blocks. A survey conducted by City Comptroller Scott Stringer in December 2016 found that of 50 businesses in the area, 80 percent of them are losing business. source The real kicker, is the fact that conservatives both in congress and around the country and on this board bitched about Michelle Obama's trips citing cost of the use of the aircraft, crew AND security for the first family on those jaunts. They continued to bitch even after it came out that the Obama's covered the cost themselves. So, would someone explain why the added security costs, paid for by the Obama family while in the white house, was such a terrible and extravagant expense, and this is perfectly acceptable? Did the Obama family maintain two households, at taxpayer expense, while Obama was in office? No. The simple fact is that if the Obama family (with a lot less financial resources than the Trumps) paid for the added expenses for Michelle and her kids to take extended side trip vacations, why is not okay for the Trump family to at least help defer the cost of maintaining two households and the security costs? Furthermore, if Trump is so big on helping American based businesses, what about the ones that have lost business due to the security measures since he was elected?

FR They dont care about what it costs about Melania OR his trips golfing or how much it costs to cover mar a lago. I dont blame her for staying in NY for the boy, but the cost is an issue Basically we are paying for an estranged relationship, not alimony, but support. Its well known that she is sposed to stay until june for the school situation. That she also gets to save her son from the worst of the clusterfuck is good, but simply financially its a drain. How many trips to mar a lago pay for a years meals on wheels? one? but yeah we need more cuts for the wealthy to pad his own pocket. Im not shocked that fiscal conservatives havent posted

What happens next fall when school starts again? Do they go back to NY and again screw the American public? And I was reading a day or two ago that Florida wants Trump to reimburse the state and the businesses that have lost money due to Trumps almost weekly trips there. For three days out of every seven, businesses in the area are shut down for security purposes. There are a number of helicopter tour businesses that lose weekend business because the area becomes a no fly zone.

It is fair to ask Trump to foot the bill of the security at Trump Tower for her. Because of her personal decision not to affect her son's life. But people are criticizing her for doing what the Obamas are doing too. They rented a house in DC to continue staying there as their children haven't finish school and didn't want to disrupt their studies right? Parents do that for their child's welfare ALL THE TIME! But Trump should probably pay for the additional cost of this security for a personal choice. That decision added more cost to the country.
