You 'll be surprised that 19 % of a whole country's electrical power is supplied by wind and solar energy now, and growing.
The first solar powered airplane has completed a round the globe trip.

yes, it did, and the aircraft was a brillaint advertisement for carbon fiber composites and ultralight material.

after that, nothing.

The aircraft did not use batteries, could only fly in daylight hours or periods of sunlight, clouds grounded it, so other than a neat stunt, what exactly did it prove?

I agree, a neat stunt, as was long distance flying as such when it started.

Just some evidence that photoelectric panels could drive real plane propellers instead of toy ones - for the moment.

I think it proved that engines will never go out of style at least as adjuncts for certain things.

FR

We have so much fucking oil that Obama went about willy-nilly locking up as many known oil fields as possible

We have to be literally drowning in the shit

That, or Obama really hates women, children, minorities and old people, who would obviously be hit hardest in any shortage situation

Any education beyond third grade was completely wasted on you.

Just looking for ways to finance the tax cuts by way of efficacious cost-cutting, here.

Again and again and again we see how alt left radicals are forced to rely on cheap hollow meaningless personal attacks because honest discussion and debate always fails them and fails their ideology

Plentiful abundant energy production benefits the poor more than anyone

You have as much use for 'honest debate' as a California TV preacher has for a subscription to Scientific American.

You have never given the slightest indication that you have any interest whatsoever in the way of honesty or facts on the ground.

No surprise, though, as you whine and complain when called out on it.

Another problem with solar farms and wind farms..... Solar farms super heat the air above them that cook any birds that fly into the zone. Windmills kill birds when they fly into the blades. What do you suppose PITA will have to say about thaf?

Did you mean PITA as in Pain In The Atrium, or did you mean to say PETA as in People for the Ethical Treatment of Appliances?

The thing about oil is that villages in Nigeria are slaughtered at behest of Chevron, democracies are overthrown to be replaced by despots in South America and Africa, and world terrorism has increased tenfold as result of 'protecting interests' in the Middle East.

To hell with the birds.

MOre to the point, new designs (which also use solar heat to turn the turbines) have internal propellers, and zero impact on birds.

Got a link for that? Or even a library book reference? Unlike numerous others here, I trust a published book over a 'link,' but either would suffice in this instance.

Regarding basic physics, how does something that collects energy emit even more energy by way of 'super heating'?

That's the first I've heard of solar panels as 'super heaters,' and I'm likely not alone there.

Preach that coal, its a growth industry.

Typewriters and VHS have been treated rather shabbily by the 'free-market' too. Do something, nutsuckers.

That is good news, and I'm sure that every endeavor regarding alternative energy will be hyper-scrutinized far beyond the historical case as with oil or coal.

I was just pointing out the irony of fossil fuel promoters now all of a sudden taking such interest in the welfare of birds, those which having a history of being in the path of whatever windshield or turbine engine or propeller, however powered.

Apparently, birds were never an issue with kerosene-fueled jets or gasoline-fueled props.

But now solar and wind power means extinction of species.

Who knew that alternative energy would be the death of the planet?

Stalin and Mao etc seized and centralized control over every sector of their respective economies and millions died as a direct result, today's Democrats endeavor to follow those same exact footsteps

With women, children, minorities and the elderly always hit hardest

So, VHS, typewriters and coal. Or millions will die as a direct result.

You dont think that in Stalin and Mao's case it was that they ordered millions of executions then? We are looking for a little more exacting footsteps and a lot less factless nutsucker felchgobbling.

Thanks for the pants shitting though, thats how we know you are still breathing, snowflake.

The pants shitting occurs among the alt left trolls upon seeing the real poll results, after months of fake news poll editorials masked as hard news and their fake news poll predictions

Fairy tale is your forté, yet you expect thinking people to take anything seriously from your whiny-bitch pants-pooping ass.

Good luck with that.

Musicmystery -> RE: Plunging price of renewable energy makes end of fossil fuels inevitable, says report (4/3/2017 8:59:16 AM)

Hell, the simple reality that it's not a renewable resource at the rate we're consuming it makes fossil fuel end inevitable.

Do they still teach math in school, in an era of common core and no child left behind?
