President Donald Trump said in an interview published Sunday that he "didn't want to take a vote" on the Republican bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, despite demanding one less than 24 hours before the legislation was pulled.

"You know that we didn’t take a vote," Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times. "I didn’t want to take a vote. It was my idea. I said why should I take a vote."

Less than 24 hours before Republicans choked and pulled the bill, unable to muster the votes for its passage amid defections from both moderate and conservative members, Trump pushed for the legislation to go to the floor anyway.

"Yeah, I don’t lose. I don’t like to lose," Trump told the Financial Times. "But that wasn’t a definitive day. They are negotiating as we speak. I don’t know if you know. They are negotiating right now. There was no reason to take a vote."

He suggested that if his administration is unable to come to an agreement with the conservative House Freedom Caucus, he "will make a deal with the Democrats" to change health care policy.

Trump also said that he does not regret any of his tweets, which often take over news cycles and result in self-inflicted wounds to his administration.

"I don’t regret anything, because there is nothing you can do about it," he said. "You know if you issue hundreds of tweets, and every once in a while you have a clinker, that’s not so bad."

I think he's practicing (and failing at it) his Jedi mind powers.

"Those are not the bills we're voting on and that was not the day we were voting on them."

lol

Perhaps the hats should have read "Make America a Joke Again."

But I think he's surpassed the previous efforts in that regard.

The level of denial is staggering. One might forgive this level of denial in a child, though it should really be tempered with a long lecture about the virtues of telling the truth and what the world thinks of liars.

In an adult it has long since ceased to be a quaint sometimes amusing part of growing up but becomes evidence of mental health issues. It is a concern on two levels; (i) the person involved is incapable of distinguishing between truth and lies/falsehoods; and (ii) the person involved has no idea how people see through the lies to the pathological liar within, seriously discounting whatever opinion one may have held about the liar. Either of these mental health issues on its own ought to be enough to rule a person from any public office until they are treated and resolved completely.

The fact that a person who is unable to distinguish between truth and falsehood is in charge of a nuclear arsenal is frightening. Look at the level of concern about the insane North Korean dictator's nuclear arsenal ... Yet another nutcase is in charge of a far larger more sophisticated arsenal, one capable of vapourising the entire human race and demolishing most of the planet ....

So not to put too fine a point on it, the world has to come to terms with the fact that there is a genuine raving lunatic in charge of the White House. Do things get any more serious than this? Is there any way that this can end well while Dear Leader Thump remains untreated? Sadly, I am unable to find any cause for optimism here.

A year of President Judas Trump Obamacare promises - in his own words

President Trump called Obamacare a nightmare and a disaster and made repealing and replacing the healthcare law his number one priority.

Two months into his presidency, that effort has now failed. Here's what Mr Trump had to say at each stage of the saga.....guffaws

Look, it's A 70 Yr. old guy tweeting like a teenager. He's just trying to keep up with the times.

Just what we want as leader of "the most powerful nation in the world," right?

But I'm serious, cut the guy some slack, here.

Yes, he has appointed the bog-standard corporate oligarch captains to numerous cabinet and other high-level positions, but he is already butting heads with congressional Republicans.

I'm not a natural optimist, but I'm not going to overlook whatever sliver of hope as may be found, where ever from.

We in the USA are just as recovering drunkards, taking it one day at a time, etc.
