This may be a good time to demand United Nations action or remove the US from the organisation and our financial support. The United Nations as it is structured is useless if it cannot or will not act. I believe we would be better off. The money we save would go a long way in paying for healthcare.

Then demand NATO act in unison with equal participation of all nations or withdraw our financial and material support back to the 1 percent of GNP we are required by agreement.

The western world needs to act as one entity that shares the burden equally. If western Europe will not keep up their end then the US should not go it alone. I'm tired of our boys and girls dying to protect world values that many nations are not willing to sacrifice their children along side of ours to enforce.

You mean Britain France and the US arent working on it?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/04/05/us-france-britain-propose-un-resolution-syria-chemical-attack/

You cant demand the UN or Nato to do ANYTHING. However, you might wanna look around at what your allies are actually doing TOGETHER with you.
Only fuckheads like their soldiers being sent home in a box to their families.

kdsub -> RE: Should Trump Attack Syrian Military Bases Over Latest Chemical Attacks?? (4/5/2017 6:49:52 PM)

Lucy we can demand... money talks believe me...and our allies have not been giving EQUAL support through the years...at least not in men and equipment or cost. I am taking nothing away from those that have given the ultimate but their governments were perfectly happy to let the US provide the lions share of lives.

Lucylastic -> RE: Should Trump Attack Syrian Military Bases Over Latest Chemical Attacks?? (4/5/2017 6:58:41 PM)

yeah, you dont get it, the US has defaulted on more than their share of payments over the years.
Oh like anyone you can demand all you want, it doesnt mean anyone has to take any notice of it.
You need allies as much as they need you
I wish people who dont know how tightly complex it is come up with the same "idea" that simply doesnt pass the smell test, so those people need to grow up and deal with it.
Im no expert, but its just not that easy.

kdsub -> RE: Should Trump Attack Syrian Military Bases Over Latest Chemical Attacks?? (4/5/2017 7:15:13 PM)

Yes we do....but they need us more...What would they do if the US pulled their support from NATO? They would have to forego bullet trains, free healthcare, and infrastructure and finance a defense. We would survive...not sure they would...as it is the US provides more money to NATO then all other countries combined... We need more bang for our bucks.

oh dear
sorry, cant handle the dense

kdsub -> RE: Should Trump Attack Syrian Military Bases Over Latest Chemical Attacks?? (4/5/2017 7:36:32 PM)

I understand I am over simplifying but facts are facts. If we were to reduce our defense to 2 percent...and the western world would universally increase their contributions to 2 percent there would essentially be no change in the defensive capabilities of NATO... but the US would save approx $290,000,000,000 EACH YEAR and that ONE YEAR would pay for our healthcare for 8 years or more. We could afford repairing our roads and bridges... we could afford free health insurance for all...we could afford a free collage education for all... we could afford to fix our inner cities...facts are facts.

quote:

On Tuesday, Trump's statement did not include what — if anything — his administration would do about the recent attack or what his posture will be toward Assad in light of it. Press secretary Sean Spicer said that the president's statement "speaks for itself." He said Trump is meeting with his national security team, is "alarmed" at what is happening and that there will be further discussions with allies about the appropriate action. He added, "I think, at this point, as things develop, I'm not ready to talk about our next step, but we'll get there soon."

Trump was alarmed? Oh, the poor darlin' nobody told him there was a war going on? Now, where are those contingency plans? Oh, never mind, we'll just have a meeting, just me and Jarrad, and Bannon. We'll figure sumptin out. After all, we know more than the generals, and shit we fired half the State Department, so that Exxon asshole is just wandering around the empty halls down in Foggy Bottom. Meanwhile, I'll just tune into Fox News and get the latest Intel.

Consider the Great Game: The Russian Federation and the British Empire were principle adversaries in Asia, so they fought over Crimea. During the "cold war" Russia was our principle adversary. They marched into Afghanistan, into a quagmire, and drowned, just as we did a decade earlier in Vietnam.

Who are our major adversaries in the world today? Raise your hands if you can guess but don't shout out the answers, kids. Right . . . China, North Korea, Russia, and Iran. Terrible things happen around the world all the time. Right now, Russia and Iran own the mess in Syria. Setting aside the humanitarian considerations, because sometimes you just have to, there is no reason we should send planes or troops in to pummel Assad and rescue Russia and Iran. Russia has a GDP of $1.2 Trillion compared to $18.5 Trillion US GDP. Let the fuckers spend it down. Trump would be a fool to go in and help them, imo. Sighsss . . . yeah, I know, Trump is a rudderless fool.

China and NK are another problem. Don't take your eyes off the side pocket, kids.

vincentML -> RE: Should Trump Attack Syrian Military Bases Over Latest Chemical Attacks?? (4/6/2017 8:30:40 AM)

Butch, regarding the USA contributions to NATO . . .

The USA is indeed the main contributor, around 22%. Then comes Germany (14.5%), France (11%) and UK (10.5%).

The largest of the three budgets is the military budget, which for 2017 worked out to a total of about $138 Billion USAD. I am at a loss to understand the source of your $290 Billion per year saving.
The military budget for 2017 is € 1.29 billion.

Regards,

Vince

No he did not, he wiped out some pocket gophers with a hole he made in the ground, leaving everything; airstrip, buildings, chemical weapons, and planes intact.

How are you feeling about your insistence last year that the orange twatwaffle in the white house was less likely to involve your country in a war than Clinton?

Still standing on that, but the terra is not quite as firma. The way she talked it almost guaranteed war.

I am not pleased with Trump's actions. But I still believe that Clinton would be worse. When that changes, I'll let you know.

Trump will have to consult with Putin before he does anything.
Since Putin is supplying Assad with the chemicals, there's a good chance he will say no.

So Trump will do nothing.

Blaming Obama is absurd since it was the GOP who blocked him from taking action after the 2013 attacks.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/house-republicans-poised-to-say-no-on-syria/article/2535027

This has nothing to do with Obama-- they are testing Trump.

He is a weak leader and he will fail.

You look better with egg covering your face, gotta say [:D]
