Obviously, once again, I disagree with old "Double Hockey Sticks" there. I think the response was near perfect. It's good that there wasn't a ton of material damage done. Although, I would have preferred no deaths, the response did exact a cost. Beyond the "cost", the attack sent the message that we are *willing* and able to take things like chemical attacks seriously. I think of this as nothing more than a "brushback" pitch (or what we used to call "chin music") in baseball. It says: "I *CAN* hit you in the face, any time I want. I'm not prepared to do so, yet, but keep inching closer and closer and you might just get a few teeth broken." I oppose the U.S. implementing or effecting regime change (especially right now while DAESH is a concern), but letting Assad know that Putin's umbrella of protection is neither absolute nor a concern to us is a powerful message. Call this one "a shot across the bow". Michael

To me it is not always what is done...but why. President Trump is not a thoughtful President. He is rash and impulsive and is always thinking and acting on what makes him look good... he needs this like a child. He does not act on personal convictions, I don't think he gives a rats ass about Muslim children choking on nerve gas, but what action will make him look like a hero and stroke his ego. I've been here quite some time and I don't remember ever hearing praise for Clinton when he pulled the trigger. And when Obama went against his own party to aggressively pursue drone attacks against radical leadership...anywhere in the world...where was the praise then? This action does not deserve praise... it does not show balls or manhood... it was a unfortunate necessity that needed to be done when all other options had been exhausted by the previous administration. We have no right to be proud of killing and destruction. Instead it is a failure of world leadership that led to this point in time when we had no other choice. Butch

I'm not sure when this site was started, but I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut (I like chocolate ones) that President Clinton was at least in his last year before this launched. I know I've been here a good, long, while and I got here in AUG of '06 (yes, I'm old enough now where, when I was typing that, I was saying: "aught six" in my head). Certainly long after President Clinton was sticking Cuban cigars in older gals. I can't swear to it, but I would be willing to bet that if Dumbo ears had done something like this, I probably would have supported it. Unfortunately, all he ever did militarily was put us on the wrong side of the Arab Spring movement and, essentially involve us in regime change/empire building. I'll always be against that. I'm sitting here, trying to think of a time when ODumbo Ears did anything comparable to this and I can't. Of course, Obummer, (Susan) Rice, and Kerry all claimed that *their* friend, Putin had removed all the chemical weapons from Syria. Let's assume that's true. I wonder which nation might have given Assad some replacements? Michael
