Geology ? Please explain ?

Geology class was greats!

We got to learn how the solar system came about, how our planet came about, how the air as we know it came to be, how the waters came to be, etc.

Did I mention evolution along with that? Because that's how it is. Can't have one without the other. We are who we are now because, after 4.7 billion years, it just had to happen, no avoiding it.

The microbes and bacteria were around for a billion years (can we even imagine that?) before the planet went on to further ventures.

In terms of Geology, even the dinosaurs were just a very recent yesterday, and humans have only started ~ 4 million yrs. ago, though 200,000 yrs. ago be the closest as we could recognize ourselves today.

You will have to come to Australia Edwird................there is a whole area of one state, they are finding fields of dinosaur bones and the locals have built a museum nearby that is full of them and rebuilt animals. They have exhibits there that have never been see anywhere else in the world, including a cross/ crocodile/shark about 4o ft long. Would put you off swimming for life !!!

It is arguable that all flora and fauna are here as by some evolutional machiavellian enterprise of the bacteria, just so you know.
They live in the earth and take up residence in every living and purportedly 'non-living' thing.

No animal or tree could live without bacteria in their gut.

Gawd, you would have fun around the area I live ( Glasshouse Mountains, Queensland). We have the weirdest geology, flora and fauna you have ever imagined, even in your weirdest drunk dreams

And when I was in the Legion, I was introduced to a small lizard that got it's water/liquid, from it's eyeballs, first thing in the morning. Some of the women on here would love him..................comparatively speaking, he has a very long tongue he could lick his eyeballs with.

You betcha I would enjoy a good venture into the wonderlands in that nice fat continent.

You'll notice that the other big fat continents are adjoined, whereas you folks are all on your own, and proud of it.

Who could blame?

But now you're back on the home Island, right?

No matter.

I understand the consternation of the rest of the world re the US, but watching the Englanders trying to skate their way out of any culpability is amusing, to say the least.

I know that theoretically things go to a vote and we get representatives that we elected. I just can't believe that even in our small country we can all be that stupid. Just have a look at some of the vegetables we have on all sides of our parliament !!! As for aussies, walk into a pub and they will take the rise gently about you being a yank but respond in kind and the next thing you know, they will be buying you a drink and inviting you home for a barbie and you will get a LOT of info out of some of the old bushies you will meet. I wasn't born in this country but when they start taking the piss, I remind them I am a voluntary Australian. I'm not an aussie by accident of birth, nor were my ancestors dragged out here kicking and screaming at the end of a chain. Try it *smile*

I can offer you a bed and board here if you would like to visit, as well as an old and tired 4WD Subaru. She may be old and tired but she loves her home here, so she is fairly well guaranteed to get you back......................just remember to thank her each evening. Her feelings get hurt easily. I can pass you on to folk further west and they will do the same and pass you on to folk further west until you come to the place that 'nowhere' calls home. I served with 'Nowhere' ín the Legion and came to love him *smile*. you will find the geology of the moon and the flora and fauna that scientists dream of but are too lazy to look for in the right place.

I hear you!

You tell'em, brother!.
"I wasn't born here, I come to invade!" "And how are ya?"

Yes, we get in the same mood here sometimes,

You come over to the US, make it an obligation to visit and inhabit the South East of US, where social manners are the norm and better understood than else where, and you would be better accepted and welcomed, and as it turns out in the last 20 years here, not just because you are white.

This is tempting. I'll have to think about this, seriously.

I am in mid-50's, hate wearing shoes except in winter.

Unlike others I know, I don't care about large bears (I've met up with them) or snakes.

I still like barefoot when possible. Are the snakes friendly in OZ?

No matter, I get along with more of them than not.

I've been to the south-east a few times and loved it. I especially enjoyed the hospitality of a small town jail with a few friends of mine. I can't remember if it was Missouri or Mississipi but we got beds for the night, supper and breakfast cooked by the sherrifs wife, transportation to the county line by the sheriff and deputies and then warned not to EVER show our faces again, closely followed by the admonition "Ya All come back now, ya hear", which baffled the scandinavian, french and german guys I was with no end.
A couple of us went into a diner down south and the guy beside me ( black) had grits on his plate, a weirdery I had never seen before and I asked him what sort of shit that was ? After an explanation and a lot of laughter, we got invited to a whole bunch of places for barbecues, cookouts and a lot of other things that involved food. I found I had to carry a folded up world atlas though as not many people in the U.S. seemed to have either heard of Australia. or have the slightest clue where it was. I had to explain it was a country slightly bigger than America, with a population about the same as London

Our snakes are so friendly they like to taste you.......................we have 11 of the most poisonous snakes in the world. We have no bears here and the biggest hunter/carnivore, is the dingo ( I had one as a really wonderful pet one time). Barefoot is the norm when casual here.............wear thongs and you are dressed for dinner. The spiders are okay except for a couple of unfriendly types and the worst thing you may meet on your travels is a politician or norespectman

Ah, our famous, or infamous, Drop Bears and Hoop Snakes. you have heard of them ? Very dangerous and the only place they won't follow or attack is in a pub and that is the REAL reason so many aussies spend so much time in pubs. I bet you never knew that did you ???

one thing I SHOULD point out........................we don't have a winter here as such. We never see snow or frost or a temp below 8 celcius here and that is a night temp.

It springs from the belief that it's okay to kill a human baby that is 2/3 gestated, but if we did that to a dolphin baby, it'd be wrong.

Michael

In contrast
The percentage distribution of abortions and abortion rates by age, abortion ratios in 2013 and throughout the entire period of analysis were highest among adolescents and lowest among women aged 30–39 years. Abortion ratios decreased from 2004 to 2013 for women in all age groups, except for adolescents aged <15 years.

In 2013, the majority (66.0%) of abortions were performed by ≤8 weeks’ gestation, and nearly all (91.6%) were performed by ≤13 weeks’ gestation. Few abortions were performed between 14 and 20 weeks’ gestation (7.1%) or at ≥21 weeks’ gestation (1.3%). From 2004 to 2013, the percentage of all abortions performed at ≤13 weeks’ gestation remained consistently high (≥91.5%) and among those performed at ≤13 weeks’ gestation, the percentage performed at ≤6 weeks’ gestation increased 16%.

Per CDC

Statutory rape and impregnation is high for under 15s
but 1.3% of abortions done after 21 weeks is your problem
what a shock
