Greta75 -> Even X-Men Comics get Islamist messages in it! (4/13/2017 5:08:45 AM)

This is absolutely ridiculous! I suspect this is how Muslims are planning to spread all their evil Islamic messages. Again, all this guy is doing is quoting the Quran. And that is the precise Quran verse that got an Imam deported from my country for hate speech. I love how my government prosecutes Imam's for quoting Quran Verses now lol!

https://sg.style.yahoo.com/marvel-removes-x-men-artwork-artist-hides-anti-012117462.html

Most prominent is scene in which a t-shirt worn by the mutant Colossus features the cryptic writing “QS 5:51,” a reference to Qur’an Surah 5:51. While there is an ongoing and vigorous debate within the Muslim community about the intended meaning, according to Qur’an.com the verse translates as “Oh you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.”

The issue also contained an image of the mutant Kitty Pryde, one of Marvel’s best-known Jewish characters, standing in front of a jewelry storefront. Visible on the wall to Kitty Pryde’s right is the number 212. Meanwhile, her head obscures the shop’s sign so that the syllable “Jew” is unmistakably emphasized.

212 refers to protests held in Indonesia’s Jakarta province on December 2, 2016, against the province’s governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, known by his nickname, Ahok. Only the second Christian governor in the province’s history, Ahok was accused of violating the country’s controversial blasphemy laws and reported to police in 2016, after a rally in which he decried opponents who have been documented using a Qur’an verse to justify opposing him.

The verse in question? Qur’an Surah 5:51.

And the stupid Islamist Message in Response to his sacking:

Hello, Worlds…
My career is over now.
It’s the consequence what I did, and I take it.
Please no more mockery, debat, no more hate. I hope all in peace.
In this last chance, I want to tell you the true meaning of the numbers, 212 and QS 5:51.
It is number of JUSTICE. It is number of LOVE. My love to Holy Qur’an…my love to the last prophet, the Messenger…my love to ALLAH, The One God.
My apologize for all the noise. Good bye, May God bless you all. I love all of you.
-Ardian Syaf-

How can promoting hate against Jews or Christians be "Justice"? What an idiot!

Musicmystery -> RE: Even X-Men Comics get Islamist messages in it! (4/13/2017 5:17:18 AM)

How can promoting hate against Muslims be "Justice"? Self-righteous morons always convince themselves it's them against the enemy.

It's an emotion and a rationalization you know well from the inside. For the self-righteous, it's a matter of picking sides.

WhoreMods -> RE: Even X-Men Comics get Islamist messages in it! (4/13/2017 5:49:01 AM)

So hang on, you're complaining about somebody who sneaked an ideological message you don't approve of into a comic being sacked?
What's the issue here?

BoscoX -> RE: Even X-Men Comics get Islamist messages in it! (4/13/2017 6:06:36 AM)

"Quote a Koran verse, go to jail"

It's called inciting terroristic acts

How can promoting hate against "Nazis, racists, xenophobics, ISIS" be Justice?

Sneaking Hate Speech against other religions into a popular Comic meant for Kids.
That this is the new sneaky move by Muslims.

Like this is a Muslim. Just a normal Muslim. Not a terrorist. Not ISIS.

And the message he CHOSE to put in is to encourage hate towards Jews and Christians?

At least put some positive Quranic message right?

To me, this speaks volumes of what a Muslim is! And what they stand for.

And then notice he claims his message is of "Love".

Typical again, like their constant claim they are the "Religion of Peace".

After preaching Hate.

Greta, "popular" comics like the X Men haven't been aimed at kids since the '80s.

They're aimed at guys the wrong side of forty who enjoyed the comics back when they were kids rather than kids these days. Reprehensible situation, imo, but kids don't read comics anymore.

Almost half of comic book readership is women.

And yes, most of your sells are going to go to those between 18-45. I will tell you why, they have the money.

But there is comic books, manga, anime, and graphic novels.

It is an interesting area to look at. I read some old comics when I was learning to read. Richie Rich and Casper the Friendly Ghost kind of thing, yet I really do not care for comic books or graphic novels. I have tried. But my daughter is very interested in graphic novels. I encourage this. And while I would be happier if she would stick with Raina Telgemeier, instead of her newest interest in Jim Davis, she is reading by choice.

Anyways, you can find comic books and graphic novels for all age groups and boys and girls at your local library.

Oh. . . they have Shakespeare plays as graphic novels now.

You found it, so how sneaky could it have been?

Like this is a Muslim. Just a normal Muslim. Not a terrorist. Not ISIS.

Or a normal christian or a normal jew not a terrorist christian or jew.

And the message he CHOSE to put in is to encourage hate towards Jews and Christians?

Of course christians, jews and you don't publish an active hate message against muslambs?

At least put some positive Quranic message right?

But but but you claim there are none.

To me, this speaks volumes of what a Muslim is! And what they stand for.

Your post speaks volumes about your hatred of all things islam.

Why is it ok for you to preach hate and not someone else?
Jesus you are phoquing stupid.

LadyPact -> RE: Even X-Men Comics get Islamist messages in it! (4/16/2017 1:57:28 AM)

Fast Reply.

False geek alert.

This little stunt aside, Colossus is generally depicted as a Communist atheist. Other atheists from the X-Men series include Mystique, Sabertooth, and in some periods, Wolverine. (The last has also been known to have periods where he follows Buddhism.) In the alternate time line of Apocalypse, Colossus identifies as a Russian Orthodox Christian.

There is a Sunni Muslim character in the X-Men comics by the name of Dust.

So if I am against that! That's not HATE!

They had Shakespeare in those classics illustrated things back in the '50s, I think.
Good point about it not just being nerdy fanboys and there being a lot of women who read comics as well, rather than just the stereotypes out of Big Bang Theory. I was forgetting that, but I was talking about a superhero comic the audience for which tends to be more male than not.
As for the literacy and encouraging kids to read by giving them something they enjoy issue: absolutely. I couldn't agree with more than that one. There's been more than one study over here linking comics vanishing from the newsagents into nerd emporia with people born this side of that reading less for pleasure, and I can certainly believe that. The American comics are too expensive (as you say) and everything else has vanished.

I thought Colossus had been generally written as having been raised Greek Orthodox, even if he's lapsed, since the Soviet Union collapsed in the early '90s? I thought that the communist/atheist stuff was mostly from the '80s
You're forgetting Nightcrawler (who's a priest when he's not dead), Professor X, Moira McTaggert and Banshee, who are all Catholics. [;)]

Here is the amazon page for King Lear. https://www.amazon.com/King-Lear-Graphic-Shakespeare-Library/dp/1579126170/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1492351218&sr=8-6&keywords=shakespeare+graphic+novels

If you check the "Look Inside" you can see the graphic novel layout as opposed to just the illustrated versions. (I had an illustrated version of "The Tempest" as a child. Also "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde." It is pretty cool and they are very useful for teaching children (7th grade and up I believe) The Bard's plays and the language.

WhoreMods -> RE: Even X-Men Comics get Islamist messages in it! (4/16/2017 8:12:50 AM)

Thanks for the link. That looks a much better version than the old classics illustrated things. A comic's got to be a good way of transcribing a play's content faithfully, and might well be more effective as a teaching aid than an annotated text of the play.
