From CNN:

President Donald Trump has a new best frenemy.

Once upon a time, Trump mused about how well he and Russian President Vladimir Putin would get along. Then-candidate Trump said Putin had declared him a "genius," criticized the Obama administration's tensions with Moscow and said it would be better "if we got along."

China, on the other hand, was a currency manipulator, a thief of US jobs that should no longer be allowed to "rape our country." If elected, Trump promised to impose heavy tariffs on Beijing and take it to court for shady trade practices.

It turns out that wielding power — as opposed to criticizing it — can change your outlook.

This month, during which his administration has stepped up US military action in Syria and Afghanistan as he looks to reassert US power, Trump said that "we're not getting along with Russia at all, we may be at an all-time low." He and Chinese President Xi Jinping, on the other hand, have "a very good chemistry," Trump declared.

The President's reversal on Russia and China is part of a series of policy flip-flops that have seen Trump abandon campaign positions on NATO, Israel, the Iran nuclear agreement and US alliances in Asia.

The shifts, which bring Trump's White House in line with many Obama and George W. Bush administration policies, may not last under this mercurial president, but they reflect some hard facts about America's interests.

"Whatever the aspirations on the campaign trail, they have given way to the realities of what it takes to conduct American foreign policy in a cruel and unforgiving world," said Aaron David Miller, vice president at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

"The way this administration does business is highly unorthodox in so many respects," Miller said, "but the ultimate outcome on so many issues seems now to come around to a pretty conventional approach."

And so it is — these days — with Russia and China.

Trump had been eager to improve relations with Moscow and often expressed confidence that his ability to bond with Putin would ease friction between Washington and Moscow over Russia's role in Syria and its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.

But Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's alleged April 4 chemical weapons attack on his own civilians triggered Trump's outrage, leading him to strike a Syrian airfield with Tomahawk missiles and seeming to mark a change in Trump's outlook on Russia — which has supported Assad throughout Syria's bloody civil war.

President Trump didn't change on either Russia or China. Russia and China changed

The little pussyman president Obama grovelled and bowed whenever any foreigner walked by in front of him, but this president has balls

And the world is changing at his direction

The Chinese came to him, and went away to admonish the North Koreans that President Trump means business, in return for continuing cooperation with the White House on currency policy and other issues

Under Obama Putin did as he pleased - those days are clearly over.

The leftist media spins and spins, and hyper partisan fools like you lap up their propaganda but the truth is that this president is shaking the Earth and rearranging the world order to his liking

(Always true). See "The Prince"...by Nicoli Machiavelli

(See: "It turns out that wielding power — as opposed to criticizing it — can change your outlook." {accurate as hell})

(Simply: Sitting in the big chair changes EVERY perspective).

The President's reversal on Russia and China is part of a series of policy flip-flops that have seen Trump abandon campaign positions on NATO, Israel, the Iran nuclear agreement and US alliances in Asia. (Well...not if you read his books but, more importantly...history shows that every Prez "shifts" when in power: "I will CLOSE GITMO in my first 100 days" and...."watch my lips....NO NEW TAXES!!!").

The shifts, which bring Trump's White House in line with many Obama and George W. Bush administration policies (see above), may not last under this mercurial president, but they reflect some hard facts about America's interests.

(But...who do we want as a friend....in the future....Russia....declining in power or....China {which actually despises Russia...only aligning with them out of default}...or...Russia?).

Trump had been eager to improve relations with Moscow and often expressed confidence that his ability to bond with Putin would ease friction between Washington and Moscow over Russia's role in Syria and its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.

His alliance with Russia was media centrist...the evidence (in the last few weeks) paints a viably different picture.

Hmmmm....very interesting stuff....see (above).

In this case.

His Flip Flop is for the betterment of the US. End of the day, he is a man who does what is best.

He didn't come from a political background. Now with more indepth information, I think it's reasonable that he change his decisions.

I always knew Trump would get along with the Chinese. He was a pragmatic person. And Chinese are pragmatic people, never personal.

Remember Trump said he would. And back then, Lib Media was mocking him about it. Now his relationship with the Chinese dude is so much warmer and better than Obama.

Really good deflection to get the press from talking about him getting Putin to interfere with the election.

Really terrible that the press falled for this. Not all that surprising though, still not understanding how he got so much more coverage than the other candidates. Not all that long ago, they made a really big deal about equal coverage. Whatever happened to that? Ratings?

I thought the opposite of what he campaigned on generally came/turned out to be true.
What’s the name for that again opposite rule…oh, wait its clueless lying egg kunt.

The man knows no more about foreign policy than I do about a womens g-spot, which is totally made up.

I presume some idiot recently gave him a map and he is bombing all the pink countries.

Has he replaced any generals etc? Because here is the thing with trumpaloons he is a man who digests fake news and slobbers it back out live on the tele.

Does he have anyone new whispering in his ear, great satan aside obviously. Say a right wing nut job who believes that scorching the earth of the pink devils is the only solution.

Its not so much flip flops, its just that he rarely has a clue what he is talking about.

Inane?

We're in the midst of a fundamental reshuffling of the power and priorities that will shape global policy and events for decades.
