ORIGINAL: Musicmystery I can't agree about leftists. But it IS true that Congressional Democrats have no compass. They're trying to be liked by their base again, primarily. Unfortunately, the GOP doesn't have a compass either, which is why they can't pass what they claim are their primary objectives, beyond a Supreme Court seat, which was a simple yes or no, and didn't involve the House. quote:
ORIGINAL: BoscoX Too many establishment RINOs But gridlock is better than the left's continued forced march toward Marxism, which has murdered roughly a hundred million people (or more) That's why I say that the left can divide into as many parties as they want, so long as the right remain unified with the goal of staving off your far left hate mob ideologues Neither party has a compass at any level of government. RINO, another way of saying a moderate Republican. Lets put it this way, if the house is on fire, the DEMS are going to run for the fire hydrant without a fire hose and the GOP is going to point at something else to blame for the fire. The two party system evolved to prevent a single group from going off the deep end, and during most of American history the deep end was avoided through compromise. In government today, compromise is the farthest thing from the mind of any politician. If the dems and GOP were on the Titanic, no one would have gotten to the life boats, because both sides would have still been arguing about what to do about the fucking iceberg when the ship finally went under the waves. Or to put it another way, both sides today see the problems, but instead of working together to find a solution, they are still arguing over why the problems exist in the first place. During the Obama administration the argument always boiled down to it was Bush's fault. Now, in the Trump administration the argument is that it was Obama's fault. Who gives a fuck who's goddamn fault it is, fix the fucking problems and forget about who to fucking blame! The funny thing is that if we took the extremists from both sides here in the forums and put them in a room, I would bet that given enough time, they would actually find the solution to most, if not all, of the problems facing the US today. And the reason is simple. In real life, in the non political world, every one of us has learned the value and the necessity of compromise. We do it every damn day at work and home. We do it when it comes to bills and groceries and whether or not we buy the latest high tech gadget. We compromise on the perfect vacation because jr needs this or that for school or baby jane needs braces. At work we do it because we have to. We compromise on every thing from vacation days to which of us takes the trash to the dumpster on any given day. Why? Because every one of us knows that there is no way in hell we can get our way every time, and we accept that. We can because we know that we are not always right and we accept that. Politicians know all this as well, but somehow they have to the idea that if they even consider a compromise they wont get re elected. They will be seen as selling out their beliefs. However, compromise is not selling out, it is coming to a workable solution that BOTH sides can live with and accept. Compromise was the name of the political game throughout most of our history, and the lack of compromise got us some really wonderful highlights, like the civil war. Seriously, as early as 1845 southern congressman offered ideas that would end slavery and not bankrupt the south in the process, all based on how the British Empire did it. Northern states shut the door in their faces. The result was the civil war AND the years of racism and civil rights fuck ups we have had since. Hell, the dems blamed Hoover for the Great depression, like he personally created the situation that led to the stock market crash. There were republicans that blamed FDR for Pearl Harbor and WWII, and Wilson for WWI. The simple truth is that neither of them could have prevented either war, and both parties created the situation that led to the stock market crash and the whole fucking planet created the great depression (people forget that one of the reasons it was called the great depression is that it affected the entire world market.) I've always boiled down what you've said to, "Never trust a politician, they all will eventually screw you." I've also said that the left needs to worry about the pendulum swinging back. Even now I'm watching to see when the republican politicians decide to screw us all. Some here would probably say it started last Inauguration Day. I think not yet. The thing I have trouble relating to is that even though we all see that all politicians have a tendency to this, some political philosophies still want us all under central government control.
