ORIGINAL: WhoreMods The moderate moslems are over the place, but often ignored by the left leaning media conspiracyNews International because it's easier to scaremonger if people think that all of the moslems support the extremist terrorists and other dickheads. People who left some shithole theocracy where they pretend it's still the fourteenth century often came to the civilised world to get away from that crap, rather than wanting to see it normalised over here as well. An excellent point, lost in all the shouting. You don't even look very hard if your mind is not closed. With every terrorist attack in the UK, you see many "moderate" Muslims in the emergency services caring for and protecting victims. You hear their voices decrying the terrorists, and if people can be bothered to look, you can find many accounts from religious leaders detailing why extremist views (or conservative interpretations) don't fit with their concept of Islam. But more than that there are the countless people working and living peacefully alongside each other - the doctors, nurses, bus drivers, shop workers, accountants etc. Although I wish they wouldn't, a large proportion of moderate Muslims in the UK in places like Hounslow vote Tory specifically because they are conservative, like strong anti-terrorist policing and don't want the UK to change. Bad political decision in my eyes but hardly the act of extremists. And what about the Mayor of London? You might object to his politics because he is left wing, but he is the epitome of a London politician, who happens to be Asian and Muslim, but is so as part of a strongly London and British identity. In a country with so many regional issues the most significant way Sadiq Khan is different to me is the fact that he is a Londoner, not the fact that he is Muslim. That's not to say that moderate Muslims are winning everywhere. Far from it. For every defeat of IS suffers, and whatever slow progress is being made in the Arabian Peninsula to move away from the worst forms of Islamic conservatism, there are moderates in Turkey struggling as the prevailing religious mood becomes more conservative, not less. Surely we owe it to ourselves and the many moderate Muslims everywhere to take aim at terrorism and the most oppressive forms of conservatism, as opposed to directing insults and hatred against all Muslims? Where are the moderate Muslims? Everywhere. You just have to be bothered to look.
