The motion was put forth by PAS’ Dewan Ulama. It was passed without debate. The motion paper also cited as reasons Malaysia’s Muslim-majority population, the role of the prime minister as the nation’s foremost executive power, the position of Islam as the religion of the federation and the need for a guarantee on the implementation of Article 153 of the Federal Constitution. Article 153 guarantees the special position of the Malays and Bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak. I love how Malaysia is attempting to pass a law where no Non-Muslims can ever be Prime Minister, WHILE Singapore has passed a law, where ONLY a Muslim is allowed to run for President in the next Election. The reason is because it's been too long without a Muslim President, so we need to create this Affirmative Action so that Muslims get to be Presidents too! To be fair. We create Affirmative Action for our minorities, to give them opportunities to take higher political positions, While Malaysia keeps creating Affirmative Action for their Majority. Huge difference between Atheist Runned Country and Muslim Runned Country. This Article 153 also is the Muslim First Rights thingy. I don't know why you think it's a good idea to limit who can run for president on a round-robin basis according to whatever minority's turn it is and think it is a fair thing to do. Presidents should be elected on their own merit and their policies, not what group they belong to. I think it's grossly unfair to exclude those that may be more popular with the general population. It is robbing the popular vote in favour of a minority. To insist it is the turn of the Muslims 'because it's been too long' is deplorable. I don't see it as an 'affirmative action' at all; it's just as backwards as the Malaysians.

After we have a Muslim President serve for a few years, then the next election is open up equally to all Races and Religious Groups again. It's like our Race-Quota for housing as well. We evenly distribute Races in the government sector. And we evenly distribute races in where they can live, to make sure, we don't have one specific race all congregating in one area. All area needs to have equal ratios of different races living next to each other. We micro manage everything. Including Forced Racial Minglings. Like my Apartment Alone, on my Level, has like 10 Units, and I swear it's equally distributed. 3 Chinese House Holds, 3 Indian Households, and 3 Muslim house holds. And it's government intervened and intended this way! It's seriously one of the most unique system in the world. No countries does this. But we aren't called Nanny State for nothing. Everything is micro-managed to details.

It's like companies who are mandated to employ a certain quota of minorities right? We put a quota on minority getting the job of President. A President of Singapore holds the key to all the taxpayers money. That's like the CFO! So that Minorities can be President. The thing is, we are realist. If you leave this to Chinese and Indian people and their own free will. A Muslim will never see the day he will become President in Singapore. So this is us helping them be President. Because both Chinese and Indians in Singapore do not have a good impression of Islam. And will not vote for a Muslim Candidate. US does not live in proximity to Sharia Laws so people are more detached to what's going on. But for us, many of us travel regularly to Indonesia and Malaysia and that does not improve our impression of Islam. But it's complicated because it's the religion of the Natives here. So on the other hand, we try to allow the Natives their cultural, traditional Islamic practices as far as we can. That's why they still get their 4 wives. And being Natives. They have free education too, which all other non-Muslims are not entitled to. That's special for them for just being Natives. Privilege of Native Singaporeans. I think it's also, our ultimate goal is to lift all the struggling minorities out of their cycle. And them having role models of their own kind reaching successful positions is very important, for them to see what they can achieve! And that it is possible. That this country will make it possible for them and help them get there. Like most countries and their Natives, our Natives seem to fare the worst in everything despite every help given to them to lift them. So this is another way. They will feel more motivated. Just like when Obama became President, what it must have done for the African American community. It inspires that, it is possible. And Michelle Obama to me, is seriously an inspiration. Our next President is already planned to be a Head Gear Wearing Muslim Woman. I hate that she will wear her Head Gear. But she is already a Chief Justice Judge. When she becomes President , she will inspire alot of Muslim women of what they can be. And I will take pleasure in watching her Muslim Husband play "First Dude". First of all, alot of Muslim men from other Muslim countries will frown upon a Female Muslim in such a high position in a Non-Muslim country too! I think over all, I think we are doing a good thing! I hope Saudi women see this and feel inspired to fight for their rights.

According to this article, the next President of Singapore has to be Malaysian, not necessarily Muslim. One of the leading candidates is a Muslim woman. So, are all Malaysians Muslim?
